My husband says this curry isn’t edible... I disagree... thoughts?

I ordered a curry late last night. The leftovers have been sealed in itheir containers (not the rice or extras, just two curries) all day in our kitchen, and I’ve just said ‘put them in the fridge, I’ll have one for lunch.’

He has refused and wants to throw it away.

Am I wrong?

(It looks delicious Blush)

It'll be fine! Thankfully modern meat is jam packed with anti-biotics.

BruegelTheEIder · 05/12/2018 00:15

If I were you I would eat it just to prove a point to your husband

justanotherprolapse · 05/12/2018 00:17

That will be fine. You can't put it straight in the fridge anyhow.

Littlelambpeep · 05/12/2018 00:28

I'm fairly laid back but I would not eat chicken left unfridgerated for that long. Really awful... great if you want those a few pounds before Christmas Grin

empmalswa · 05/12/2018 00:42

always eat cold curry for breakfast the next day. But my kitchen is colder than the fridge...

OP is not talking about next day though, she is talking about the day after.

TheWiseWomansFear · 05/12/2018 00:43

I would, and have, eaten worse. Never had food poisoning

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 05/12/2018 01:13

According to my food hygiene training, it's a no. Room temperature is ideal breeding conditions for nasty bugs to awaken and reproduce.

But I would probably eat it myself, just wouldn't be serving it to the public.

BUT, if it contains prawns (or other shellfish) it's a massive no, no and no. Classic way to get nasty food poisoning.

PushItRealGood · 05/12/2018 01:30

Spices preserve food by limiting bacteria growth. It'll be absolutely fine! To be honest, I would have eaten it even if it hadn't been curry though. Your DH is being extremely precious!

HowOftenDoYouClean · 05/12/2018 01:50

How is it precious to worry about food being left unrefrigerated for over 24 hrs? And if anything id imagine the curry would invite more bacteria depending on the ingredients.

Robots1Humans0 · 05/12/2018 01:55

Ohhh Yack!! Definitely not! I work with food though and have no time in my life for a bad stomach, I won't eat anything left out overnight nevermind all day as well 🤣

LadyPasserine · 05/12/2018 06:28

I’ll have it.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 05/12/2018 06:36

Would I buggery have eaten it. Glad you didn't too Grin

KnobOfStork · 05/12/2018 12:44

Me and DP fell asleep after ordering pizzas which we then ate in the morning having been left on the doorstep and rained on and we were fine although we seem to be uniquely invincible. I've only ever had food poisoning from not washing lettuce. Grin

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 05/12/2018 12:46

I’d eat it without a second thought.

So would my DH though truth be told!

Ohyesiam · 05/12/2018 12:50

I’d eat it without a second thought unless it’s xhicken.
I lived in south India for a while and many of the families I stayed with didn’t have a fridge. Various dishes would be out for 24 plus hours. They also reheat rice by steaming it but that’s another story. Smile

Littlefrog99 · 05/12/2018 12:51

I would eat it. Both me & DP do this regularly and neither of us have ever been ill from it. It's winter so the kitchen is probably too cold for any significant bacteria to grow. I wouldn't do it in the warmer months though.

LovesLaboursLost · 05/12/2018 12:53

It depends what it is. There’s not a huge amount going to go wrong with a vegetable curry sitting in a cold kitchen.

SoyDora · 05/12/2018 12:57

I’d eat it, so would DH.

StealthPolarBear · 05/12/2018 13:02

Op said she would leave the meat and just eat the sauce. Presumably the meat is in the sauce though... Bleurgh

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 05/12/2018 13:43

Unless your kitchen is colder than the fridge, no.

Sitranced · 05/12/2018 13:46

Yeah no probs.

cushioncovers · 05/12/2018 19:50

Nope I wouldn't eat it.

Did you eat it op??

Hezz · 05/12/2018 22:29

It'll be fine.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 06/12/2018 17:54

OP are you ded?

cushioncovers · 08/12/2018 10:12

I think she must be Smile
