Reusable Coffee Cups

This is probably a really obvious question, but when you have a travel coffee mug can you get a smaller coffee from the coffee shop in it. For instance, if I have a 16oz reusable coffee cup, can I get a 12oz coffee from Costa in it?

I’ve never had an issue.

purplecorkheart · 04/12/2018 21:47

No issue at all. I have a huge insulated coffee cup. I always ask for a much smaller.coffee

dementedma · 04/12/2018 21:51

i have a collapsible one which folds down flat to go in your bag, and you can pop it up to be any size you want to suit the size of the drink

I have a couple of Keep Cups which work well and seem to last - had them years now.

southbailey · 05/12/2018 07:21

I carry a keep cup for using in coffee shops and have a contigo for taking tea from home. I find both have their place in my life.

PickleFish · 05/12/2018 07:23

Need to decide if you want one that will keep the coffee warm or not. You read reviews about them and some of the reviews of the re-usable cups complain that they don't keep it hot - but they're not meant to. they're just a replacement for the disposable one, and something you can drink out of right away. I use the glass keep cups, but they are a bit heavy and bulky to carry around, so other times I use the Stojo collapsible cup. It is pretty good size/weight, does leak a tiny bit when folded up so I wrap it in a napkin or something when I put it away. Most coffee shops seem happy to rinse the cup if I'm still there or if later in the day I want another one.

If you want an insulated one that keeps it hot, that's a different question, and you can read the reviews for that differently. But people mix the two points up on a lot of the reviews!

I've never had any problem getting a smaller coffee in mine. I have a 12Oz one but sometimes get a flat white. Can't get a grande size in it though, but I could have bought a bigger one, just didn't need it. If I want a grande, I'll sit in!

OhHolyJesus · 05/12/2018 07:30

Contigo as PP said. Best I've had, worth the £.

RiddleyW · 05/12/2018 08:59

Are the Frank Green ones leak proof.

V happy with keep cup for a replacement for paper ones but am in the market for one I can have a drink in and chuck in my bag.

Jjou · 05/12/2018 11:11

Contigo are amazing if you want a flask you can chuck in a bag - mine has never leaked, unlike all of the others I've tried. It keeps drinks hot for ages too.

MuddyWellyNelly · 05/12/2018 11:18

Agree that different cups do different things. I have a couple of keep cups. They're several years old now. Recently both lids split (after 4+ years daily use) and I was able to buy just the lids to replace them. I like that they are light so easily chucked in my bag when done. They fit in my car cup holder. They aren't Insulated and aren't leak proof but that's not what I need. DH has 2 as well and we take them everywhere; if we're going shopping say I chuck them in my handbag in case we decide to get a coffee. Point being, a reusable cup will only work if you can see yourself fitting it into your routine. A heavy insulated flask wouldn't work for me 90% of the time but it might for others.

mortifiedmama · 05/12/2018 11:24

I have a corky cup. It's the size of a large Costa take out cup. I only ever buy a small or medium Costa (I don't want a large!) But they always go it up anyway.

I recommend the corky cup. Best reusable I've had.

Knitwit101 · 05/12/2018 11:27

I have a Lifeventure stainless steel one. I've had it for years.
Good things- It keeps the drinks hot for a few hours, but not a whole day. It never leaks.

Bad things- When you want to have a drink you have to take the whole top off so it's not so good if you are wanting to walk along the street drinking your hot drink.

newplacenofriends · 05/12/2018 16:13

thank you, I think I will get a keep cup. I'm not bothered about keeping it warm and want something light!
