Car advice! Mileage vs age?

Looking at very equivalent vehicles.
One Kia 2014 with 20,000
One Hyundai 2016 with 50,000
Both have a couple of years warranty left.
Which do we choose and why?!

XW had a Rio and hated it, but it was a 2011 model. For my former job I have driven Hyundai i20s and i40s all over the country and can say the i20 isn't bad for a small car, it doesn't rattle too much and feels very together. Not driven the Rio so don't have an opinion on it.

I'm not convinced by the low mileage argument. My car before the one I have now was 15 years old and had only 45K miles on it. Despite me getting it serviced every 6k miles it died at 67k miles. My current car was bought with 164k on the clock, is 14 yo and runs (atm) almost as smooth as a buttered bannister. Just a bit tappity at start up but I think that's excusable. If it breaks I'll let you know.

I’d go for the new one with a high mileage but that is because we only do 5k - 8k a year so high mileage will soon become average mileage under us.

My friend bought a (brand new) Kia Ceed last year. It's in the garage every five minutes with yet another problem. It's breaking her heart. She's getting rid of it in the new year.
Go with the Hyundai.

Definitely the newer Hyundai. If it's a 2016 model then it's the most recently released of the two, which is always an advantage. Also, we looked at getting a Rio for DS and it was very cheap feeling inside.
