Delicious
Scrumptious
Sarnie
Preggie / Preggers
Leccy (electric)

All of the above words make me want to put my fist through a wall.

Smear - as in smear of purée on a plate
Beaker
Tub - someone on a thread was talking about tubs of paint. No!
Horrid - just so Enid Blyton

Amibeingnaive · 03/12/2018 00:44

Serviette (this is by far and away my most hated word; I would cheerfully see its usage criminalised)
Settee (the word is sofa)
Couch (the word is sofa, but even settee is preferable, you intolerable Yankophile)
Hun (as in 'Thanks hun! Xxx' as opposed to 'Attila the Hun')
Literally (when used incorrectly e.g. 'I literally died')
Poorly (as in ill, rather than 'he constructed a sentence poorly')
Toilet (unless you are referring very specifically to one in particular. If you are seeking directions in a restaurant/a bar/any public place, ask for 'the loo' or 'the ladies' if you must.
Canteen (unless referring to cutlery)
Pouffe (hateful word - footstool or ottoman, as appropriate)
Telly (no, unless Savalas)
Carport (don't be ridiculous)
Garbage (see above)
Stakeholder (corporate wankspeak at its worst)
Traditionalist (bigot is quicker to say/type)

Oh, I've used real words. Should have paid more attention to the OP

In which case, I give you:

On fleek (usually references eyebrows, which I don't think need to be discussed at all really)
Fuckboi (I don't know exactly what this means because I'm 33, but I see it on Facebook with troubling regularity and it doesn't sit well with me)
Flexitarian (so you eat plants and animals, as you feel like it? How subversive! I bet no one has ever done that before!)
Mumpreneur (because you can't just be an entrepreneur if you have kids)
Snowflake (when referring to anything other than a

...meteorological situation)

Osirus · 03/12/2018 01:15

“Haters” i.e when someone posts on Facebook and says “no haters please” or suchlike. It’s weird and juvenile.

Also, brew, cuppa or any “affectionate” term for anything that has a proper name, such as “beemer” mentioned above. Urghhh!

brizzledrizzle · 03/12/2018 01:22

Yoick
Yeet

Neweternal · 03/12/2018 01:41

AdoreTheBeach · 03/12/2018 05:19

Bullion

WaterBird · 03/12/2018 06:29

Medicore
Mongrel
Noodle (don't like them)

WaterBird · 03/12/2018 06:31

Oh great. Medicore is not a word. I meant mediocre.

NannyMcfanny · 03/12/2018 06:33

Panty/panties

windysocks · 03/12/2018 06:34

gotten - makes me angry

LadyRochfordsSpikedGusset · 03/12/2018 07:00

Lol loving some of these. Another one for hubby here too! Grin

NooNooHead · 03/12/2018 08:00

Yes,, I agree that gotten is dreadful. I hate that word.

Sorry to sound ignorant but what the heck does famalam mean? It does sound very odd...

Bunnyhop1502 · 03/12/2018 08:01

Actually
Literally
Pacific in place of specific
Hun
Babes
Bubba

I cringe when I see “rant over” or “faith in humanity restored”. Funnily enough it does the opposite to me.

stegosauruslady · 03/12/2018 09:16

Utilise. Stupid word, it annoys me. People use it when the word 'use' would be perfectly adequate.

ShotsFired · 03/12/2018 09:21

"PJs"
"Cooked from scratch"
"Simples"

GrannyHaddock · 03/12/2018 09:51

"Gotten" is real English word that fell out of use around the 17th century. The Americans looked after it for us, and now we can have it back again. This should not be forgotten. (See what I did there)?
