For me I think it might have been about four years ago on holiday in a country where the sea is wArm...bobbin* 8n the ocean.

That sort of holiday is a distant memory...need some closer to home ideas.

Similar OP, we went for a trip to Ireland and went to the Cliffs of Moher, just looking out over the ocean I felt completely at peace.

Newsername · 02/12/2018 12:40

Probably when I was about 3 before I started nursery and school.

NC4Now · 02/12/2018 12:41

This morning, in bed with a brew, the Sunday paper and my cat. I’m easily pleased.

FoodGloriousFud · 02/12/2018 12:41

Now! Sat on the sofa snuggled under a blanket with a cuppa & book (and Mumsnet!!) while DH potters around.

We live fairly near the Malvern Hills and I love walking to the top with the dog and just sitting up there, watching the world go by. It's my "go to" place when I need to be on my own with my thoughts.

KurriKurri · 02/12/2018 13:25

This is going to sound very strange - but I can't remember a time, ever, not even when I was child, I'd love it to happen, but it hasn't yet - I think I'll always have far to much shit oing round my brain.

MiddlingMum · 02/12/2018 13:29

Yesterday after a long brisk walk with my brother. We ended up in a lovely cafe, sitting on squidgy sofas eating cake and drinking hot chocolate. We were so relaxed that they almost had to throw us out at closing time.

BoringSoup · 02/12/2018 16:03

I finish work on Thursday noon for the (nice long) weekend.

Then when I get home, I have lunch with dh.

That starts my feeling of being properly relaxed and at peace 🙂.

This ends very abruptly at 6am on the following Monday ⏰

BoringSoup · 02/12/2018 16:05

.....Apart from that, the sound of waves crashing in the ocean,

though you don’t get that very much in Greater Manchester...

Roystonv · 02/12/2018 16:06

About 23 years ago, our first holiday abroad with the dc. I was sitting on a deckchair by the pool. Twas a nice feeling.

haveipossiblygonedappy · 02/12/2018 16:09

I can’t ever remember a time either . There’s always some sort of niggling worry . Possibly a couple of times after being given various drugs in hospital - oramorph especially is great for snoozing, but I suspect that isn’t the answer you’re looking for !

Joanne721 · 02/12/2018 16:12

In june this year, sitting on the beach just watching the sea,had to drag myself away or i would`ve missed the train.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 02/12/2018 16:16

I reckon about 4 years ago - we were living overseas and our life was far from quiet or relaxing in the traditional sense... - We have 4 DC, I was involved with their school, DH and I both very actively involved in our church in volunteering roles, DH was in a very demanding role at work, and we were keeping up with all the busyness of running a family of 6 and staying in contact with family and friends in different continents. We were totally at peace though. We were exactly where we were meant to be.

Just a few months later we found out we were being unexpectedly repatriated, and then a few months after that we came back to the UK. Since then I haven’t felt at peace or relaxed at all. We definitely don’t feel that we’re where we’re meant to be and we’ve had a horrific few years with family illnesses/accidents, bereavements of both friends and family, cancer and much more. Right now it feels like we’ll never be at peace again. (I’m sure we will, but it just doesn’t feel like it right now.)

If I had to say, then it would probably be in the summer on a boat with my friend in France. The scenery was so pretty and relaxing.

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 02/12/2018 17:29

I genuinely cannot remember.

I'm very tightly-wound all the time. Coupled with crippling anxiety and PTSD, recipe for disaster.

Geraniumpink · 02/12/2018 17:46

Possibly in those moments just before going to sleep each night.

dudsville · 02/12/2018 18:04

I'm also going to say now, and frequently. I don't take out for granted. My life choices allow me to have this. My biggest complaints right now are 1) I'm full, so can't snack and 2) my mint tea is still too hot to drink.

Chewbecca · 02/12/2018 18:08

I'd also say right now. Am full from a lovely lunch, snuggled on the sofa in joggers and have removed my bra. Cat is curled up against me. All planned jobs are done.

QuilliamCakespeare · 02/12/2018 18:11

Cuddling one of my children. It's the only time I feel truly at peace.

DonaldDucksTowel · 02/12/2018 18:14

A few weeks ago, in a spa sat in the outdoor jacuzzi with DP watching the sunset
It was lovely, he had to drag me out

Weetabixandshreddies · 02/12/2018 18:17

Not since before the birth of my first child 20 odd years ago. Not been completely relaxed or at peace since then. I'm always worrying about something.

OverwateredCheeseplant · 02/12/2018 19:26

Circa August of the year 2000, we spent the day on the beach at Varadero in Cuba. We bought rum and cokes for $1 each from some guy in a hut. The sand was so white I couldn’t look at it. And then we went into the warm ocean. I remember while in the sea that I felt like I was thousands of miles away from all my problems and what a wonderful feeling it was. One of the most cherished days of my life.

Long term manic depressive so all I can say is I wish that feeling would come more often.

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/12/2018 19:31

This morning, in bed, looking out of the window at the rain, looking forward to a nice quiet day.

Knittedfrog · 02/12/2018 19:37

I would have to go back several years. I can't remember the last time I felt really at peace with no worry or stress.
