31 and I have zero core strength! Advice?

I just want to be healthier, this isn’t about weight loss for me (though I am a bit bigger than I’d like!) I get so confused about all the conflicting advice online!

Anyone got any tried and tested ways you improved your core strength? I’ve done couch to 5k and yoga for a while, took a few weeks off recently because of work commitments, and I’ve got the opportunity to start Zumba this week. Should I be planking and doing sit ups in the morning perhaps? Go back to yoga? Sit on a wobbly yoga ball instead of the sofa?

Pilates. It's amazing for core strength.

Yoga, google ‘Yoga with Adriene’ . Although I do agree that Pilates is great too.

Core strength is so important. Sit ups are not actually that great, there are much more effective exercises such as planks and leg raises. Have a look on YouTube.
And don't forget your lower abdominals, they are much harder to train than the upper ones, check out specific exercises for them.

Yoga is great but Pilates is better for improving core strength.

Yoga, swimming, some abdominal exercises are good. Look on youtube for core strengthening routines.

Buy a wobble cushion and practice it every day. Don't over-infate it though.

Plank. Blogilates on YouTube.

If you really have poor core strength you can makw dramatic improvements by just you sucking your tummy in hard towards your spine frequently throughout the day. Do it standing up straight or sitting up straight. Sounds silly but try to do 100 hard pulses of belly button to spine and see what hurts and how close you can get to 100.

Suck in hold for ten seconds then release also good.

As you get stronger try elevators: suck it in three steps.

A bit like Kegels.

Do all the class stuff too. Do the sucking in thing every day repeatedly no matter whether you do classes or not.

Logan of awesome advice thank you!
I’m going with lots of stomach ‘sucks’ every day, the daily plank challenge, and Zumba once a week and Pilates once a week.

Let’s do this!
