Haha Bestseller there are still laws about minimum wage & is def dodgy in this day & age to be paying cash in hand

@Applepudding2018 I live in the north east and the vast majority of takeaways don't pay their staff minimum wage . My brother has worked in takeaways for 10 + years since he was 16 , both in the shops and as a driver for various places and his wages have been between £4 and £6 an hour , as a driver he would get the delivery charge per delivery so £1/2 per delivery plus any tips and a small petrol allowance per night .
This isn't big chains like dominoes or papa johns , I'd assume they pay more

@Bestseller

Being paid in cash is completely legal... as long as the employer is putting it through their books. It doesn't matter if it is below the tax threshold; it needs to go through the books with the employee being registered as an employee. If it doesn't, then HMRC get no income details, allowing that employee to claim more benefits, to avoid paying child maintenance, to avoid paying national insurance if they go over that amount etc. It also means they have no protection and won't have the option of a pension scheme.
So you can't just say "there's no tax due so no need to do it officially". There are more implications than tax.

I don't tip the driver. They charge £3.50 a delivery. That's more then enough for a half mile journey.

I don't tip the driver as pay a delivery charge instead
