Talk vitamins to me please!

I seem to have been hit by loads of illnesses this year. I’ve been pregnant for much of the year, which I know lowers immunity, and after delivering baby I was told I have a low iron count. I’m now on my second cold post baby (She’s 4 weeks old!) and am so fed up. I really want to sort my immune system out.

Does anyone have any vitamins they they recommend? I’ve found some effervescent vitamin d in the cupboard and have had that. It’s just a Waitrose one. Are other types more powerful/potent? Help please! I just want to feel well again!

I take a vit d 3000mg oral spray every day which I got on amazon.
I also take a turmeric capsule (meant to be amazing for the immune system) and a zinc capsule (again also great for the immune system). Echinacea is my go to when I have a cold and it always clears it up quickly.

A lot of vitamins will just produce expensive urine 😬

I just take vitamin d capsules. 5000iu from BulkPowders on Amazon.

I also take vitamin D supplements in winter, but barring specific medical needs most other vitamins and minerals are more useful to your body if they come as part of a natural food in a varied, healthy diet rather than isolated in a lab. Were you recommended anything in particular for your iron deficiency?

You might want to look at boosting your gut bacteria in order to strengthen your immune system. There’s lots of focus now on the importance of the microbiome. Fibre-rich fruit, veg, nuts and seeds, and probiotic foods and drinks such as live yoghurt, kefir, miso, kimchi and kombucha, are all thought to help keep your “friendly bacteria” happy.

The best thing you can do is eat a good varied diet with lots of nutrients, and lots of gut friendly foods for your microbiome - good fibre, fruit and veg, live foods. The book The Diet Myth is a great starting point to learn about this.
