Not sure if there is an age limit so 9 year old may be too young

I looked at this as in idea for my young teen's birthday - it seemed to me that it was impossible to find anywhere - there would be restrictions on youngsters using steam rooms/saunas I would have thought

Please no - spas are usually wonderful child free spaces.

I think you'll struggle with that. Proper spas tend to be adult only.

How about a nice salon, get you hair and nails done, then afternoon tea somewhere instead?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sauna/ steam room that allows under 14’s. I can’t imagine other guests being happy with a 9 year old at a spa even if the management did allow it. I’d certainly complain if there was a child at a spa I’d paid a lot of money for, part of the appeal is the fact it’s child free.

AtSea1979 · 01/12/2018 08:35

I’m sure it’s illegal in this country for children to use saunas and i’ve never seen hot tubs allowed under 16s either.
You’d be better getting a day pass at somewhere like David Lloyds or local equivalent and using their outdoor and indoor pool and hot tub etc and booking a treatment in their salon.

Spas are where adults go for peace and tranquillity - and to get away from children Grin

Some hotels let children in the spa before noon. A group I'm on recently had someone asking the same thing but she wanted her 7 year old to get a massage! Op you should look for hotels with a nice pool and salon probably more suitable than a full on spa.

naicepineapple · 01/12/2018 09:18

I doubt she's old enough. Tbh I'd be annoyed if I booked a lovely spa day and someone's 9yo was there. They're usually 16+
Can you not book at a salon for hair & nails or something instead?

HRTpatch · 01/12/2018 09:19

Too young.
Thankfully.

justtryingtodoitright · 01/12/2018 09:29

I would be so irritated if I went to a spa and there were children using the facilities! I'm sure most of us would view this as a treat and childfree space?

Theworldisfullofgs · 01/12/2018 10:11

You won't be able to find one. Because of their liability insurance they are not able to provide treatments on under 18s. Because of child protection concerns most spas won't let children in any way. And Most of the patrons want adults only.

You might be able to find a hotel that will do her nails and you can use the pool etc, have lunch.

Annabelle88 · 01/12/2018 10:13

That’s what I thought. Thanks for the advice.
