Paddy's Bazaar

Is anyone else familiar with this expression or know of its origins ? It's something that's been used in my family at least for decades to describe an unusually busy place or situation. I believe it's a popular expression in Merseyside but I honestly don't know where I heard that. Also, given the disapproval that accompanies other sayings like 'having a paddy' or 'paddywagon', would Paddy's Bazaar be considered offensive these days ?

Can't be just me and family, surely ? Perhaps I've been imagining it all these years.

Think there used to be a Paddy's Market in Liverpool, could be what you're thinking of?

This article from the Liverpool Echo might help www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/change-looms-north-liverpool-take-3342909

Thankyou H. This would certainly explain the Merseyside angle. I'm curious as to how the expression entered our family's vocabulary. Flintshire on my Dad's side three generations ago is as close to Liverpool we have been.
