What do single people without family do at Christmas? Do I invite difficult friend to family Christmas?

I have a single friend who will be on her own this Christmas. Her children will all be at their father's place until just after the New Year and she has no other friends close by.

What do single people do at Christmas if all their friends are busy with family and their own family is distant and not an option?

She has not been fishing for an invitation and knows we will be very squashed already around the tables. She's never met my family but imagine they will not get on as she can be blunt and they can be difficult too. I imagine I'd find it even more stressful than usual.
I don't want her to be on her own but I really think they will clash.

Invite her for Christmas breakfast or supper so she isn't alone all day.

Yes invite her for part of the day. Do you go for a walk in Christmas Day. If you do invite her for the walk and to come back afterwards for drinks. That maybe dilutes it a bit. Thank

Is she happy being on her own? Not everyone wants to be with other peoples family. I could think of nothing worse .

some people enjoy being alone.

I have spent plenty of Christmas Days alone; generally I have spent them working and if off work too going for a nice run, eating some nice food and relaxing. I have been invited to other peoples' houses occasionally and will pop in for a drink Christmas Eve if asked perhaps but hate to intrude upon their Christmas Days when they have asked to be polite and I know it will increase their stress levels so I decline those invitations (with much thanks for the thought).

I always decline the invitation but am very grateful for the thought.
I spend my day watching tv in my pjs and eating whatever I fancy. It's a bit of a strange day, but not dismal!

Invite her if you would be happy to see her, but not if it would be a 'duty'. And if you do invite her, please don't be offended if she declines - I generally spend Christmas day on my own, and wouldn't want to be involved in someone else's family day

I think asking her over for Christmas Eve and then Boxing Day might work best. Thanks.

I sleep late, have a chilled morning. Watch Netflix, cook nice food or eat McDonald's Grin nap, watch a film, read... quite happy on my own

I'd think about maybe inviting her for New Year's Eve if you celebrate it, or Boxing Day if the family that you think will be difficult are not with you then.
