Thank you @theredjellybean I think I will contact the gp surgery again and request a different gp, just out of interest which contraceptive pills have people's dds been put on? And has it helped? My dd suffers with cramps and extremely heavy periods.

My daughter went on Microgynon at 15. Massive improvement.

KTyoupigeon · 01/12/2018 19:59

My daughter has been on Microgynon since aged 14 - also a massive difference

My DD was 12 when she first went on the pill so age has nothing to do with it.

christmaschristmaschristmas · 01/12/2018 20:58

Take her to the GP lots they can do.

The pill (mini or combined) are a great option.

Please be wary of taking naproxen, tranexamic or menfamic acid. DD took these and developed IBD with no family history and this has been labelled the 'cause'

MorningCuppa · 04/12/2018 20:43

@christmaschristmaschristmas my dd is on tranexamic and menfamic acid, what is IBD please?

I have booked an appointment to ask about the pill again.

MorningCuppa · 04/12/2018 20:47

Inflammatory bowel disease? I just looked it up, my dd has just been diagnosed with IBS.

kittenfun · 11/12/2018 12:17

Thanks for all the info and support
Have been given

Naproxetine for pain relief to take when she starts
A nausea tablet

I had tricky periods as a teenager. What I would have liked, alongside drugs to help, would have been to be told that it often, not for everyone, slowly improves. By my 20s the pain and diarrhea was starting to reduce. I am now mid 30s and the post children Mirena means I barely have periods. Aged 14/15 I thought this was it for the next 35 years which was a horrible thought.

Keel · 11/12/2018 13:30

Buscopan weirdly seems to have helped my dd a lot. She takes it for IBS but has noticed her period pain isn't now as severe.

NoraLuka · 11/12/2018 15:20

YY Changing about telling them that there are solutions and that sometimes it gets better by itself. I clearly remember lying on my bed aged about 14 working out how many periods I had left to go in my life and wondering what on earth I was going to do about it.

HollyJolly74 · 11/12/2018 15:24

I had the same when I was in my early teens and went on pill and had no issues after that. I would not recommend coil at all.... it’s excruciating having it put in & I think there are much better options to try first.

MIdgebabe · 11/12/2018 15:29

A few people mentioning ibs. my cramps were constipation caused either by hormones or just lack of space when everything swells up, so anti constipation things may help.inclu8ng Hot water bottle, tummy massage, and whatever you can get from the pharmacy. PErhaps reduce fibre intake a day or two beforehand also

kittenfun · 11/12/2018 18:56

I have ibs
I take fybogel, mebeverine and Imodium if bad

Dd is happy she has tablets
She takes naproxen when she starts her period with paracetamol
A week before she is due she feels sick so she can take an anti nausea pill then
Dr said best to try these tabs before going on the pill
