For the kitchen. Must be plug in, easy to operate, and have easy to see time on the front. Thanks!

Would they care about DAB?

So long as it gets Radio 4, they’ll be happy...

I got this one for my dad for his birthday for the conservatory (aka the drinking tea/smoking cigarettes/watching the birds spot). DAB and very clear, plug in or battery, shows the time and I pre-programmed the 5 presets so he doesn’t have to fiddle with them. Turns on with an easy touch at the top. Though similarly he doesn’t change the channel from R4 very much Grin

Ooh, that one looks good, Dolly! And it comes in lots of pretty colours. Thanks :)

They've had their current one for 25 years so hope this one does as well...

How do you burn through them so fast, lljkk? What do you do to them?

Buttons go stiff (unresponsive). There are too few buttons for changing stations. Only buttons for changing mode or volume, so they get worn out. I'd say they typically last about 2.5 yrs with me. I swap betw. BBC 4, 5 & WS frequently. With only 2 buttons, this is fastest if swap bew. FM & DAB so mode becomes another button to wear out. I just bought a 2nd hand C-radio (experiment) & it arrived with buttons already a bit stiff from prior use.

One clock radio the power connection (tube?) went unreliable rather than buttons. When you press a button the connection is disturbed & radio might lose power, so it's better in occasional use in our dining room, not next to bed where I might touch the buttons 50x a night & 20x in morning.

The white upright radio from JL is a decent price for DAB, and being upright won't take up so much room which is good on a kitchen counter. Knobs last longer than buttons. Our kitchen DAB radio has lasted at least 5 yrs.
