Nextdoor app - neighbour needs help...

Hi, bit of a weird one.

I'm on the "nextdoor" app where people in the same area can post for recommendations/ help moving etc.

A man called James has said he needs someone to help change 2 lightbulbs in his flat, that he is disabled, and would really appreciate it.

I'm just around the corner and would happily go and do this, would you?

I hate to think of someone needing help like this but at the same time I don't know if I'm being stupid going round to someone's house that I've never met?

You have to be verified in regards to location using the app, so it it legit but still. I'm not sure.

Can someone go with you?

minipie · 29/11/2018 18:32

First time, I’d want someone to go with me I think. Can you rope in another neighbour?

Spamfrittersforeveryone · 29/11/2018 18:33

I wouldn’t go on my own as a woman if I didn’t know him.
Take someone with you?

Easylay · 29/11/2018 18:34

Don't go alone

SnailorSwift · 29/11/2018 18:35

Agree with those above, can you take someone with you? Just to be on the safe side. Im sure he is genuine but best to be safe; and on the other hand would hate to think someone less kind than you would see it and take advantage of this man.

I've got no one to come with me at the moment but possibly would tomorrow.

No one has replied yet, I think I will message him and suggest tomorrow.

Hopefully it can wait till the morning. What a shame for someone that such a basic household chore is so problematic.

I hadn’t thought about simple things like lightbulbs before.

EastMidsGPs · 29/11/2018 18:42

As others have said do not go alone.

I once stupidly put myself in real danger in a similar work related incident. To the point it became a company health and safety team case study!

NoSquirrels · 29/11/2018 18:45

Lightbulbs can definitely wait till daylight hours & someone to go with you - if you can do it tomorrow with someone along suggest that.

EastMidsGPs · 29/11/2018 19:05

Not implying your neighbour is a danger and i apologise if I caused offence with my previous post. I just wanted to emphasise what other posters had said re going with someone.
(If I told you how I'd got myself into my safety problem, you'd think yea gods how does this woman dress herself and make her way in the world 😂😂)
