Brought a tear to my eye.
There are still good, kind people out there with compassion for others.

That's awful.

Sweet but very sad. My grandfather died when I was little and I found some letters that he had written to my grandma when he was in France during ww2.

Because they were all ‘it’s strange over here... I wish I could be home with you... the scenery is very different...’ I was convinced he’d written these from heaven and wondered where he managed to find a postbox. Come on i was only 4!!

I'm surprised at the negative responses especially the ones being snotty about the guys grammar. 😡
I think it was a lovely thing to do and I think the guy worded it really sweetly. The reply will have been opened by the child's mother who is the person who will have the best take on how her son will take the letter.

I assume, as the boys mother, she has done what's best for her son.

I expect that even if the child believes what the PO guy has written in a literal sense at the moment he will look back on it fondly as he gets older. I don't see why he needs to be confused about it.

They child would ask question through - why didn’t dad write back? Can we visit? Can he come back?
