I have no savings or security- Bleak future?

I'm not married to my DP and I was just thinking of how I can protect myself in the future in the event of a separartion.

I'm a student at the moment and failing my degree, so graduate positions are off the table. I'm mid 20s so never been in a senior position at work (retail).

I'd like to go in to accountancy to earn good money but don't know how I can get there when I have most of the responsibilities.

Is there any way I can protect myself now? I'm hoping to win the lottery.

You are young and can turn your life around.

Get a grip on that degree - why do you think you are failing? Go and speak to a tutor and find out what you can do to get that back on track - it's not over until the fat lady sings!

Then investigate accountancy further - there are loads of options and ways in - so that is a totally achievable option. (Accountant speaking!)

Statistically, the lottery is not a good bet! Getting a degree is, and you got in to do it, so you can do it!

Thanks Ursaminor

I'm repeating my second year for the 3rd time due to some awful circumstances I've had to deal the last 2 years. My head is just not in it, I've lost a passion for my subject (unrelated to accountancy).

Go and speak to a tutor. See if there is any flexibility in changing subjects, or converting your course into some sort of qualification. My little sis did this - she "checked out" and didn't even go to any classes for about a year - and she still managed to end up with a degree. Explain how you feel and see what can be done - don't sit and stew on your own. If you can't go forward with the course, see what the other options are - and there are always options. Get along and talk to someone, and get then to refer you to someone who can help. Very sorry to hear you have had a bad time - all the more reason to access all the help that your educational organisation will have to help you get out of this spiral.

My pleasure - and don't panic, there is a way forward!
