Being sensible about your weight over Christmas

I desperately need to lose weight and have already started. Does anyone have any tips for not over-indulging too much over Christmas, especially when staying with family who tend to serve cake after every meal? I want to be fairly healthy without offending anyone.

Either say you're full up after the meal or just have small portions/tastes of the food you're trying to avoid. Nobody can force you to eat, so use willpower to not go bananas and undo all your good work.

I'm overweight, and although don't want to diet over the next 4 weeks would prefer jot to put any more on!

Build in lots of walks over the Christmas time. Most people put on weight because they eat more and move a lot less. Planning walks with family can help as you're at least burning more calories than just sitting on the sofa and eating someone's quality street. Plus try and eat mega healthily between family gatherings and for breakfast etc. It's easy to get into the habit of "sod it I'll have chocolate for breakfast" instead of your normal Muesli on the 27th December.

I'd say to have smaller portions of your meal so you can have a small portion of cake. I've made the decision when i have naughty things, i have to walk extra steps that day but i keep ending up at the local shopping centre. Not really what you want/have time to do this time of year.

I tend to have a healthy breakfast such as fruit and a small
Portion of muesli so I can go to town on other meals. Also if you’ve had a big lunch, maybe just have a pudding at your usual dinner time. Then you get all the treat without piling on the calories
