What hobby/craft/DIY project could I do?

I love working on a project but am a bit lost on what to do.

I’m quite handy in terms of DIY and have been doing stuff on the house since we moved in a couple of years ago. I like the satisfaction or restoring things or making something from scratch.

So far I’ve thought about:
Upholstery
Furniture restoration
Dressmaking
Making lamps (is this a thing?!)
Pottery

Not keen on knitting, jewellery making, card making). I know someone who does taxidermy and I like the niche aspect so something like that (but not that) would be ideal.

Does anyone have any advice on these things or ideas of anything else I could try?

I would do furniture restoration and simple carpentry

This is what I’m leaning to but wish it was summer so I could Work on the messier bits outside!

I think you should look at renovating a house.

Now, I know buying a house is expensive, so I’m going to help you out here. I’ll provide the house and you can do the renovation.

Let me know when you want to start

I've been learning dressmaking. It's not too tricky to pick up and it's really enjoyable. I've gone a couple of short courses to get me started and bought a couple of books - sewing for dummies is a good one.

Do I get to keep the house @iloveautumnleaves?

Errr.

Ummmm

Noooo.

But you get the fun of the project. Surely that’s reward enough?!

CarolSpatula have you looked at your local adult Ed courses?I've done night classes in gardening, garden design, soft furnishings, upholstery etc. I do a little dress making and sew lots of other stuff. I enjoy quilting, knitting and jewellery making. I'm married to someone who is pretty good at carpentry so I haven't done much of that.

Is there anything you need to sort out around the house?

I am just about to start needle felting. £12 starter kit from Amazon so worth a try 😊

That’s a good idea @wildcherryblossom. Going to take a look now, would be nice to have a bit of real life guidance from an instructor rather than just YouTube and blogs

I learn a lot from you tube videos but real life guidance does make a difference. Upholstery is a fantastic thing to learn.
