Would you be sad to be on your on for a week from Christmas afternoon?

Due to a complicated series of events too boring to go into, I am going to be leaving DH and DS at my DM's on Christmas Day evening and coming home.
Once home I'll be on my own apart from CrookedCat and possibly DDog3, albeit I will be working every day, until New Year's Eve when I will drive back to the bosom of my family.
Everyone seems quite perturbed at the extreme loneliness I will feel, and seems to picture me wandering Lady Macbeth around the house wailing and gnashing my teeth.
Now I get that it is Christmas but I'm feeling quite buoyant about the whole affair (apart from the neck breakingly awful drive to DM's and back)
I'm trying to appear stoic but quite frankly I'm not sure I'm pulling it off that well Grin
So am I a dreadful wife, daughter and mother? For context DS is a teen so it's not like we're still in the magic of Christmas stage.

This is my train of thought too madmum
There have been dangerous mutterings about DM coming down by coach. I think I've crushed the mutiny by pointing out that they will be effectively stranded while I take the car to work, and the pub will be shut Wink

I go back to work as soon as practical after Boxing Day, so would be OK in your shoes.

I'm in the same position op.
Will see everyone again about 5pm NYE.
I'm secretly looking forward to the peace after I get in from work 😀

OMG I am so jealous.

My girls birthdays are the 2nd and 7th of December so by the time I've done their parties and birthdays and then dealt with Christmas, I am a wrung our little rag and a week talking to no one, sleeping lots, watching shit on TV and eating WHAT I WANT sounds utterly amazing

A week home alone with all the Xmas food and booze? Sounds amazing!

OMG. Best.Christmas.Ever.

Well, I'm fibbing slightly as I would miss my family this year as we've all been a bit break neck speed all year.
However, I would be in my element having even 1 day alone so it does sound blissful.

Make sure you strike the right rueful balance missing out in case they take pity and join you!!

I'm heroically doing one of the 2 days we need to open in the office ALONE between Xmas and New Year - people actually are grateful that I've volunteered. It'll be blooming bliss, if I could wangle a week home alone I'd take it like a shot 😂

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks it will be an absolute joy Grin
DH is so angst ridden he's even offered to keep DDog3 with him. DDog3 is an utter monster and terrorises him with her lawless ways so this is a big gesture.
I OTOH have almost perfected the resigned sigh and small shrug that indicates there simply no way around it Wink
