I’ve just had my gallbladder removed. Does anyone have any tips on how to get through the first night please??

I’m home after my scheduled gallbladder surgery and the anaesthetic & good hospital painkillers are wearing off.
I’m pacing around with a peppermint tea to try to dislodge trapped wind & avoid blood clots (one of my big worries). Does anyone have any tips/advice on how I’m going to sleep tonight please??

I slept propped up for the first few nights. One tip about the trapped wind - raise your arms above your head. One of the nurses told me to do it and it was a big help, I didn't get any of the shoulder pain I'd been warned to expect.

Paracetamol and brufen regularly, as recommended, prop yourself up with pillows and sleep fairly upright. This will continue for about three or four nights.

Oh yes, peppermint tea, if you have the shoulder pain from trapped wind!

I don’t have shoulder pain, just the bloating, trapped wind & general ‘dear God someone’s removed one of my organs’ pain!
I’m also quite hungry but have to stay on liquids until tomorrow morning for some reason, then on to soft food for a couple of days.
I’ve been on The liver shrinking diet (not the slim fast one) for the last couple of weeks too, so I’m really looking forward to eating something nice!
