Hi just wondered if you could tell me what your dd eats on a daily basis? I’m just wondering what breakfast, snacks they eat and lunch, dinner etc. Thanks

dd 14, quite petite, 1 slice white toast and marmite, no idea what she had for lunch or at school, not sure if she took a packed lunch, slice of chocolate cake when back from school and stir fried rice and vegetables and egg. I don't pay too much attention to what she eats most of the time tbh although she is vegetarian and once a month or so I worry about balance/protein.

Dd had Nesquick cereal bar on the way to school. I have given up on breakfast as she is not interested and purposely appears 2 mins before she has to leave the house. She said she had a chicken baguette at lunch. She possibly had some grapes after school and then tonight we all had spaghetti and meatballs. I try to encourage more fruit and veg eating. She has a lot of peas and carrots.

I have to say I am finding this thread remarkably reassuring. I often think that 'good' parents are feeding their children endless dishes consisting of quinoa and kale. I like the fact that teenagers (or preteens in my case) appear universally immune to our attempts at nutritional guidance. Wink

DD's petite, size 6, almost 14. She's good at eating veg, but fruit is a work in progress (unless it's raspberries).

B: shreddies with milk
L: Cheese & onion Sandwich, dairylea dunker, cereal bar
S: Crisps or choc bar
D: Fish fingers, jacket potato, broccoli

Getting rid of 100 cals per day should allow her to lose 1-2kg a week without realizing it. I personally would do this by replacing her daily full sized Twix bar with fruit and only buy it on on a per bar basis as a weekend treat.

FluffikinsTheThird · 27/11/2018 22:55

Fuck, no wonder teenage girls are hung up on what they weigh/eat if this is the attitude.

Cherries101 · 27/11/2018 22:56

I don’t think seeing what a load of size 6-8 14 yo girls eat helps your DD really. Weight loss and weight maintenance isn’t the same thing and there are some truly shocking diets being posted here. Suggest moving your thread to Weight Loss to get tailored advice.

Dd is 14. Dances 3 times per week and walks to and from school. She's 5ft 1 and around 6 stones.
B - 2 brioche with nutella and apple juice.
L- 2 slices cheese and tomato pizza, grapes, crisps, pack mini choc coated rice cakes
S - large orange, fresh fig, mini Dairy Milk
D - lasagne and half an avocado
S - Rice Krispies bar and handful of cashews.
Pretty usual day for her.

FoxyFabrina · 27/11/2018 23:55

teenagers blimey! I wouldn't eat that much sugar in a day myself!

Titsywoo · 28/11/2018 00:06

I struggle to get dd to eat a balanced diet but it's not awful. Today she had 5 satsumas for breakfast as she couldn't get out of bed in time to make something decent. School lunch is always pasta in tomato sauce. Dinner was steak pie with mash and peas (she are the peas and pastry and picked at the rest). She had a floor chocolate and slice of bread before bed. She's a size 8-10. I do try to get her to eat better! My son is overweight but we've managed to get his weight down from obese by increasing protein and veg and limiting the sugar. We just kept repeating what would keep him healthy and eventually it sunk in!

Titsywoo · 28/11/2018 00:07

I'm pretty sure my diet and my friends diets were shocking as teens too. We turned out ok and eat healthily now.

Titsywoo · 28/11/2018 00:14

Sunnyeyes with my son I give him lots of protein so bacon or smoked and eggs for breakfast, no chocolate in packed lunch, not too many sweet drinks (including orange juice). Kept the daily pudding though as he would have noticed that change and been upset about it and I didnt want to make it a thing. He never lost weight he's just stayed the same and is growing into it.

fleshmarketclose · 28/11/2018 00:16

Dd eats very little, always has. Today she has eaten a bacon roll at breakfast (it's the time she eats the most) and a slice of toast minus the crusts this evening. No snacks and has drunk water or milk throughout the day. Today was a bad day admittedly as she would generally have a small portion (on a side plate) of whatever I had cooked for dinner (no lunch and rarely a snack) but she is under the weather which immediately knocks her appetite for six. She's small and slim but not underweight.

Neweternal · 28/11/2018 00:28

My 11 year old I'm actually REALLY concerned but the dr think I'm being silly.

Breakfast kitkat
Lunch school lunch whatever is served tiny portions
Dinner Stew, chill, meat and veg or stir fry
Ice cream

Then
2 punnets of fruit or cherry tomatoes and
Pot noodle and
Baked potato and tuna

Is this normal?

He's not overweight put on 4kg in 3months and grown 2 inches. He gets weighed regularly due to another medical condition. He used to be lean and now he is filling out. Seriously is this normal? We argue about food all the time.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 28/11/2018 00:44

When I was that age it would be

Cup of tea 8am

Ham salad roll midday

Whatever was for dinner at 6pm (usually potatoes, meat or fish and vegetables, followed by a small pudding)

Toast or crackers with butter for supper.

Didn’t eat sweets or chocolate, didn’t have fizzy drinks, and was a lovely slim size 10.

It went to pot when I got to 18 and discovered pubs and kebabs 😂🙄

YeOldeTrout · 28/11/2018 06:03

DD last night... "Where's the paracetamol? I have a headache!"
Me: Do you have a cold?
Her: No, I ate too much sugar!

I didn't see the sugar consumption, tsk tsk. It's hard to get full pic with teens. I think she'd rather admit to having sugar binge than having a cold!
