I like either of these for breakfast but bit bored of how I have them. Any ideas please!

I get my milk from the milkman. No plastic.

bassackwards · 27/11/2018 17:14

First off, you need proper Scottish jumbo rolled oats. Cook them in water as usual, then when they're done stir in mashed banana, a dash of cinnamon and some milk. Top with brown sugar if you must :)

Great!
Just putting it out there that the bottles are 95% plant based and recyclable.

Loving all these recipes - thanks to everyone posting.

Blueberries and cinnamon

VeryFoolishFay · 27/11/2018 17:16

I like mine with some apple, cinnamon, sunflower seeds, raisins and a small squirt of honey.

Seniorschoolmum · 27/11/2018 17:17

I add hazel nuts preserved in honey.

Or grated apple & cinnamon. Smile

I like my overnight oats with Greek Style lemon yoghurt (ALDI or Muller version) and frozen raspberries!

I find 1/3 of a cup of oats and about 1/3-1/2 a tub yoghurt fills me!

tryinganewname · 27/11/2018 17:22

Mince pie - do your usual recipe but add in a tablespoon of mincemeat Smile

tryinganewname · 27/11/2018 17:24

But the mince pie ones are definitely the best as baked oats - lovely and hot on these cold mornings!

I'm so old

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 27/11/2018 17:25

How long overnight oats keep after making?
I usually do enough for 2 mornings only.

I've got a bag of frozen berries in the freezer. Might use them up

trickyex · 27/11/2018 17:25

I make porridge with milk rather than water (Oat bran is my favourite) and add from the the following:
linseeds
chia seeds
flaked almonds
nut butter (Meridian almond and coconut is really good)
cinnamon
honey
dried fruit
tiny pinch of smoked sea salt

honeysucklejasmine · 27/11/2018 17:31

I make it with water, usually what was left over from making tea. I just whack it on the hob to boil for a few minutes, and stir now and then to stop it sticking. (Literally about 4 minutes - as long as it takes to make the fillings) I add mashed banana and a teaspoon of peanut butter.

Zoflorabore · 27/11/2018 17:48

Place marking for later. I haven't a clue what to do with oats Blush

Doobydoobydooyeh · 27/11/2018 17:59

These are great thank you!

I used to do one with chopped apple and dried apricots and oats left to soak in milk over night - scrummy!

nocoolnamesleft · 28/11/2018 02:31

I make porridge with hazelnut milk, cinnamon, a tiny splash of maple syrup, and whatever dried fruit is handy.

chatwoo · 28/11/2018 03:01

I use this list www.anotherroot.com/overnight-oats-seven-ways/

and I make the banana one but add carrot as well... I also use more than recommended nut butter asnd maple syrup :-D I also dump in some chia seeds, but not too many, otherwise it solidifies!

Sammysquiz · 28/11/2018 09:58

I make mine with Alpro Coconut Milk & also stir in a handful of sultanas so they’re all plump & juicy by the morning.

MrsWooster · 28/11/2018 10:03

trying
Baked oats, you say... what is this Marvel?.

NannyR · 28/11/2018 10:08

I've been making porridge with steel cut oats recently and the texture and flavour is so much nicer than rolled oats. I make a big batch once a week by frying the oats (1 part) in a knob of coconut oil, then adding three parts water and a good pinch of salt. Bring them to the boil then switch off the heat, put a lid on the pan and leave it overnight. In the morning take a portion out, mix in some milk (I use cashew milk) and heat it in the microwave. The remaining porridge keeps in the fridge for several days.
Steel cut oats aren't that easy to find in shops but they are worth looking out for. Tesco sell them. They have a lower gi and more nutrients than rolled oats as they are less processed.

Biologifemini · 28/11/2018 10:12

Frozen cherries, cinnamon and possibly honey.

Si1ver · 28/11/2018 10:14

1/4 cup oats
TSP chai seeds
1/2 TSP cinnamon
1/2 TSP vanilla paste
TSP peanut butter
Half chopped banana
1/4 cup almond milk

madmomma · 28/11/2018 10:16

Fantastic inspiration on this thread, thanks!

SaveKevin · 28/11/2018 10:19

Loving these! I only have 2 but.
1 part oats 3 parts milk, boil and stir until it looks like porridge
Cinnamon and sugar on top (a banana if I have them and ideally demerra sugar)

1 part oats 2 parts milk and a handful of frozen berries. Again boil and stir until it looks right.

FiveShelties · 28/11/2018 10:27

I put 30grams of oats with 150ml milk and a pinch of cinnamon in the fridge. Cook in microwave for 45 seconds, stir, then another 45 seconds. Chop one apple add to porridge and a bit more milk if too thick, 45 seconds in microwave, stir and another 45 seconds.

Add a couple of spoons of yoghurt and eat! Makes a huge dish and keeps me full from 8.30am to 1pm when I have lunch.

I cannot wait to try many of the above ideas.
