STUCK ! How many children to invite for 9th birthday party ?

Hello !

DS is having his 9th birthday party soon. I haven't started handing out the invites as I'm at loss to how many children I should invite.

We have finally decided to do a trampoline party and go to either Nandos or Pizza afterwards (after ruling out; Go-Karting & Lazer quest due to costs).

But DS would like to invite six friends from his school and one outside school and four from his old school. I can't do that ?! That's too expensive.

I would only like to invite six friends MAX. What do you suggest we comprise on ? I need to send out invites tomorrow !

If you want 6 friends max then invite 6 friends.
or
make party cheaper by eg going to McD afterwards, and invite more.

Thanks Teen.

But wouldn't it be awkward doing the whole blowing out the cake in Mcdonalds ?

suggest to your son that its to many to transport around from trampoline to nandos etc, don't know the exact mechanics of your plan but you can come up with a reason, as ( I assume) the old school friends and new school ones don't know each other they wont mix and it will end up as two groups , and one poor fellow who doesn't know anyone, that he's best to just invite the new school friends, but maybe he could have the old four friends over one day for a playdate if that's something you could arrange or a get together one day over xmas,

BlackrockMum · 27/11/2018 14:53

but as teen says yes than compromise with cheaper food- and no why would it be embarrassing to do cake in mc donals?

reallyyy · 27/11/2018 14:58

Blow out the cake st the trampoline party? Surely the trampoline party package includes food??

TeenTimesTwo · 27/11/2018 15:00

Just don't have a b-day cake?

Or as reallyyy says, snack at trampoline place and no external food? (moving locations at a party with kids is a pain so if you can avoid it then do so!)

nandos and pizza are expensive. have you looked at the cost for a party that is entirely at the trampoline place, they usually provide food and you just do the cake

notgivingin789 · 27/11/2018 16:19

I have looked. It’s 24pp for the trampoline party package with a minimum of 8 children. Non package party is 12 pp. Plus the trampoline place don’t cater to children who have all allergies. DS has multiple allergies so it wouldn’t be viable.

Nando’s/ Pizza express is literally 5 minutes away from the trampoline park. Plus they offer allergy free options.

So £12 trampoline plus children's menu Pizza Express?
Sounds reasonable, just set you budget and limit accordingly.

Just avoid main menu, extras, drinks etc as they are the things that push the price up.

or Trampoline plus squash and crisps there for more people.

At 9 give the choice to him. Tell him he can have all the finds he wants to trampoling, but he can't then have Nandos and pizza. Or he can have 6 f4iendsand both trampolining and Nandos.

That said one of DD's friends had a party with friends from both old and new schools and the dynamic was difficult as the dC stuck with the people they knew and friend felt torn in 2. So perhaps just restricting to new friends (maybe have a different sort of get together with other friends)might work better.

Thank Teen. The kids menu at Nandos is £5.95 each.

Thats very strange Red. I have always invited DS's old school friends to his birthday parties. All the kids seemed to get along.
