Just on FB some might find fun or even useful

www.bbc.co.uk/guides/zsf2tyc#z3gpycw

I'm a convenience shopper apparently. I may retake based on what I usually do. I'm relying on convenience at mo as health not been great lately.

What did you get?

Apparently I'm normally a bargain hunter!

Good to get tips though

I'm stuck in rut! Not sure how it came up with that!

GoldenHoops · 25/11/2018 13:08

I'm stuck in rut as well!

Graphista · 25/11/2018 13:24

Interesting - do you tend to have the same every week?

megletthesecond · 25/11/2018 13:28

Stuck in a rut.
TBH with one fussy DC, one with allergies and me being gluten free I don't care. I often make three different suppers too 😫. But I'm thrifty and batch cook and freeze a lot.

gamerchick · 25/11/2018 13:28

Is this their way of looking for people who spend silly amounts on food a week?

I'd love to see a show on those who don't spend 250 quid a week and see where savings could be made.

Nubbled · 25/11/2018 13:30

Stuck in a rut too Confused

Baking101 · 25/11/2018 13:33

Impulse buyer. Blush

sackrifice · 25/11/2018 13:40

I am a bargain hunter...and it then tells me to walk past the bargains and go back if I still want them at the end...the only time I set foot in a supermarket is for a bargain!

Stupid quiz. I grow most of my own food and compost everything.

They know nothing!

Thesearmsofmine · 25/11/2018 14:18

Bargain hunter here which doesn’t surprise me as we are on a budget. I can’t watch that programme as I get so annoyed with the people on there.

RebelWitchFace · 25/11/2018 14:18

Convenience shopper. Tbh some questions didn't really fit as I do my food shop online. Best way to reduce costs. Online food shop £75 OH in the actual shop (with a list) £135 , and that's without me and DD being there too adding random in.

murmuration · 25/11/2018 14:59

I got impulse buyer. But like rebel, I online shop nearly exclusively, so it doesn't quite fit. It's advice was (1) before I shop consider what I want and make a list - I do consider what I want, but I don't make a list - why would I write/type something out when I could just pop it in my online shopping basket with less effort? (2) try to shop only once a week - and I do, often once every 1.5-2 weeks, and I did tell it that in the quiz, and (3) don't shop when hungry or with kids. I usually shop in tiny bits here and there on my phone and definitely not with my kid (how would you even do that online?). I'm not sure how I even got that, except for the not making a list question, which I don't, because it would seem ridiculously redundant.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 25/11/2018 15:04

Ha ha I came out as an impulse buyer - I'm guessing because I answered that I like to try different foods, and shop several times each week.

In reality I shop regularly for fresh produce and look for new recipes to cook from scratch.

murmuration · 25/11/2018 15:08

I did it again, this time saying I made a list, and got bargain hunter. So I must have been very near the edge of their categories. Advice there wasn't very useful - I don't even need to figure out price per 100g, as it always shows you those online, and the bit about "walking past" clearly doesn't work for online. I have things in my online shopping list, and I bulk buy things that store/I can freeze whenever they are on sale. (so maybe I don't buy 'end of ailse bargains' , but it seemed like those are what they would be?).

lljkk · 25/11/2018 15:23

That's funny, quiz concluded I'm an impulse buyer.
I impulse buy extremely little!! Weird.
I think it says 'impulse' buyer b/c we go shopping many times/week.
But we still only buy what we'll definitely eat, and lots of it is excellent value for money. We waste almost nothing.

Shopping when not hungry is terrible idea. If I do that, I don't buy enough & end up having to go back to shops again 2 days later.

itsnowthewaitinggame · 25/11/2018 15:27

Impulse buyer here. I guess it has an element of truth as I'm not really that fussed about food and just grab what I fancy

MaverickSnoopy · 25/11/2018 15:29

I'm stuck in a rut.

It's a fact. I have a fussy 7yo (who's getting better) who won't eat anything spicy. I have a 2yo who mostly lives off pasta and rice and declares she is finished if presented with anything else. I have a newborn who has a cows milk protein allergy and who I'm breastfeeding so I can't have dairy. I don't have the time to make me dairy free versions of things and just to recap I have a newborn so actually I don't have time to find lots of different recipes. The fact that I'm still meal planning at all is amazing.

Now if they could give me some advice that fits with the above and our budget that would be great.

hidinginthenightgarden · 25/11/2018 15:46

Mine says impulse buyer which is totally wrong. I shop online to avoid doing just that!

Jackshouse · 25/11/2018 15:55

Stuck in a rut but with a veggie DH, dairy free toddler, little time to cook and a strict budget there is not a lots I can do about it.

Like the tv show the quiz seems to live an era were no one does online shopping.

AwdBovril · 25/11/2018 15:59

Mine says impulse buyer. I suspect that's based on the number of times I go shopping - we don't have a car & I don't like to rely on the supermarket pickers to get the best dated fresh produce. So I go several times a week. I only "impulse buy" if the product is something I wanted to try out anyway, & I happen to see it on offer... so not really that much of an impulse purchase.

darkriver198868 · 25/11/2018 16:44

Throwaway shopper.

Graphista · 25/11/2018 18:33

I also shop online (no choice agoraphobia) And I still do a list - not a full one but things I don't buy every week or are seasonal on the notepad on my phone. I also have some things I like BUT I won't pay full price for so only buy them when on offer.

I shop once a week too, though sometimes I skip a week if I don't need it.

Not shopping when hungry - I read that advice on MSE years ago and must admit it serves me well - even shipping online. I do it on a Friday when last leg is on now. To be delivered on the Sunday. Currently having to phone to get it checked out though as there's issues with visa payments & sainsburys site (bloody 8 weeks already!)

Maverick geez - never mind meal planning I think with all that going on your doing well to write a sensible post!! That's a lot of stress.

Jackshouse agree re quiz but the show has had families that either partly or fully shop online. For the "in the shop" but they do the packing for them to see what they've bought.

What's a throwaway shopper?!

OP posts:
Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 25/11/2018 20:22

Just did it again but changed the number of shops to 2 or less & I'm no longer an impulse buyer but a bargain hunter. All because I like fresh bread Hmm

I'm also annoyed at the how many times do you buy lunch out a week? That would be none then. Hence the fresh breadSmile

Dunno what I expected given the programme is present daft tbh.

SushiMonster · 25/11/2018 20:29

Convenience, apparently. probably because I said I buy lunch convenience foods out - but we have a subsidised canteen.
