What’s Leeds Festival like?

Last night we had my husband’s friend and his wife over for dinner and after a few drinks the wife and I were talking about Leeds fest as my 17 year old wants to go but having just moved to college doesn’t have any close friends to go with. This somehow turned into the wife and I buying tickets with one for my daughter too. I went to v a few years ago and loved it but that was with a close like minded friend. The girl I’ve booked tickets with is a bit wild and 8 years younger than me, I’m nearly 40. Cold light of day I think it might be a mistake. Who’s been? What was it like?

Leeds Festival is huge and it has become a local rite of passage for kids who've just finished their GCSEs. So loads of 16/17 year olds letting off steam after exams basically.

It did gain a reputation as being rough after some stuff a few years ago like the toilets getting set on fire. I think that's why they moved it to the more out of town location.

My friends who have kids that age seem to let their kids go on their own as long as they are in a group of trusted friends. Slight worry but it's the done thing round here.

It was a right of passage after gcses whem I did mine in 2004.

Was great for us to let off steam and have first taste of freedom.

Not sure its changed much.

Its all about the music anyways. Much bigger names play now days.

I dont know if leeds is much different to reading, but i found myself feeling very old at reading the last time i went and i was only about 30 at the time.

All about the amazing music! Depends on what's headlining next year. I don't think you'll have much of a time of it, if you are not into the music its pointless, although doable on a day pass.

What day and type of ticket did you buy?

There are a wide range of ages there, although, yes predominantly teens, and mostly the post exams at I would have said.

Plenty of drugs, drinking, vomitting, regular and strict fire patrols.

I think its a lot more hardcore staying
