Got a trip to London coming up shortly and I'm wondering whether I need my big down jacket or if I can get away with a smart wool? Need guidance!!

You can just about get away with the wool coat but bring scarf, gloves and a vest in case.

Notcontent · 24/11/2018 20:17

Hmm - I would bring a warm coat, but then again I am always cold.

But it really does feel like winter all of a sudden.

BiscuitDrama · 24/11/2018 20:18

Depends where you’re coming from?

You may get over hot on public transport at the mo.

HundredMilesAnHour · 24/11/2018 20:20

It felt pretty mild today. Thurs was COLD (def gloves weather) but yesterday was a little milder and today much better. Wool coat should be fine but bring a scarf and gloves just in case.

Sarcelle · 24/11/2018 20:20

Meant to be in double figures next week so warming up. Shops and public transport have been on the hot side.

GreenEggsHamandChips · 24/11/2018 20:27

Awesome. Wool coat, hat, scarf and gloves suits me better on this occasion. Might bring a packable down I can stick underneath if needed

There's quite a lot of rain in the forecast for next week.

Today felt cold to me, but that might have been because I was pretty much stationary on a touchline for what seemed like forever. It's not that cold at other times, though I usually feel worse when it's wet as well.

GreenEggsHamandChips · 24/11/2018 20:37

Oh uggg!! That would set the cat among the pigeons. Definitely the down if there's rain.... it has a nice waterproof layer

In and out of shops and public transport? Wool jacket

Tramping across Hampstead Heath for the afternoon? Big coat

GreenEggsHamandChips · 24/11/2018 20:47

Bus, Hospital, bus, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, maybe Regents street, bus

Don't think you'll need the big coat but def take a scarf

GreenEggsHamandChips · 24/11/2018 23:44

Thank you all I appreciate the advice Flowers

When is the trip?

I've just been watching the local forecast. Cold(ish) today, then turning milder (possibly double figures) but unsettled, wet and windy for the rest of the week

gerispringer · 26/11/2018 07:11

Could buy a new big down coat in Uniqlo while you are here. It’s cold/ wet btw. Wool coat not the best in rain. Bring an umbrella.

silkpyjamasallday · 26/11/2018 07:17

Every time I've worn a coat or jacket for the last few weeks I've ended I taking it off because it's too warm. I'd bring lightweight waterproofs rather than big wool coats.

GreenEggsHamandChips · 26/11/2018 07:34

Today!!! Leaving shortly as a need to travel a fair way! No umbrella possible as I'm pushing a wheelchair. My lightweight waterproof coats are definitely more functional than smart. Hmmmm decisions!!

I have uniqlo down. I'm not a big fan.

It's around 6/7 degrees today and overcast, no rain forecast but it feels sort of damp. You are going to get hot pushing the wheelchair, wrangling public transport and being in the hospital and any shops. Wear the coat that is comfortable and have a scarf, hat and gloves so you can peel them off as necessary. Enjoy your day.

wowfudge · 26/11/2018 07:55

I've just been to London from the frozen north (of Derbyshire) and didn't need gloves. I was glad of a warm coat and scarf but sweltering on the tube.

MrsPear · 26/11/2018 07:57

Well I just popped out to take ds1 to sn taxi and it is a tad nippy. Then again I’m wearing a dress and cardigan. Don’t look like rain mind you. I would wear the wool blazer and a hat etc

GreenEggsHamandChips · 26/11/2018 21:05

Wore lighterweight clothes and my big down coat. Was perfect. Thankfully it didn't rain on us although I had DS rain cover just in case. I think the weather was so kind I could probably have got away with either option
