Living with less/shopping guilt

Does anyone else really struggle with the concept of minimalism/living with less? I really like the idea in principle and have been slowly decluttering the past 2-3 years but I always end up seeing new things I like. I love buying clothes, skin products and make-up. I don't have loads but I always feel a bit guilty when I buy things (though I do enjoy it and wear/use them all). I don't think I'm ever going to be like these minimalist ppl I see online that have like 2 pairs of trousers and 3 jumpers. Obv I do try and reign it in for the sake of the planet (and my bank balance) but I still love browsing the shops. I think part of it is I grew up with very anti-consumerist parents who never bought me and DSis anything 'trendy' etc. so when I got my own money I kind of rebelled a bit.

Just wondering what everyone else thinks: do you feel guilty when you go shopping? is anyone trying to live with less? how many clothes is too many clothes do you think?

I have decluttered over and over again but like you, I just like things. I use them and I enjoy the item as well as the browsing/shopping. Until recently I hadn't been strict enough with myself and Ive really been paying attention to actively ccut right back and not replace. Leaving the purse at home, unsubscribing to sales emails, finding other activities that are not shopping or spending have all helped but it does take a conscious effort to stop consuming so much all of the time.

I think is a good idea to keep purchases to a minimum and it's great that we are all trying our best. But my greatest downfall is getting things ( make up, face creams , soaps etc) and starting them before the other stuff is used up. Must try harder !

Being a very poor student encouraged my inner spendthrift.
I enjoy spending money
I enjoy spending on others
It gives me a lot of pleasure

I've got really good at this lately. Earlier this week I was at a garden centre - buying a very boring hose connector. I walked through the huge Christmas displays and just thought "Nope, don't need any of this."

A good rule is to wait a few days after seeing something, to decide if you still really want it, rather than buying on impulse.

I'm the same OP. I am better now but only because I have to be - SAHM and what frivolous money I did have has now gone towards a car as I'm finally driving. Running a car is expensive!

I often browse online, open up tabs of what I'd like, realise how much it will all cost and then close it all down. Because if I can't have it all I don't want any!
