Or know anyone who has?
Day off today, put TV on for some background noise, sat down with a cup of tea and Jeremy Kyle is on. Obviously I've heard of it but never watched it.
I'm in shock!
Is it real? I mean really real?

I've been in the audience.
It's 100% real, however the production team do tell you to clap etc.

FissionChips · 23/11/2018 10:32

I’ve known 2 people who’ve been on This morning and in one of those magazines (chat, take a break.).

BackToBeingMe · 23/11/2018 10:36

No I would never embarrass myself in that way! How would want to air the I dirty laundry in front of millions of viewers. I can't watch it it gives me the rage

Who would admit to it if they had?

Roomba · 23/11/2018 10:39

A guy I used to work with went on the show years ago, to try and sort out his 'wayward drug addict' son. He said it was the quickest way to get decent counselling for him (and sadly he was much mistaken about the quality of the 'ongoing support' offered!).

It was ridiculous really, I knew the poor lad and he was a goth who smoked a bit of weed occasionally. Never in trouble with the police, did pretty well at school, polite to old ladies. And his controlling father dragged him on national TV to rant about how awful he was! They don't speak now.

RightOnTheEdge · 23/11/2018 10:39

I saw someone I recognised in the audience once.
I usually flick between that and Jeremy Vine on a morning before I go to work.

The last story today with the murdered girl's family was heartbreaking Sad

SylviaAndSidney · 23/11/2018 10:39

I’d rather drag my arse over broken glass and hot coals, I don’t even watch it.

That said, I know (women) who have been to watch it in the audience, and 6 years after leaving school a woman who had been in my year was a ‘guest’, having a DNA test, all her teeth were intact.

pleasesleepinyourownbed · 23/11/2018 10:41

I can't even watch it. It's too shouty. Stresses me out. It's like embarrassing bodies. Why on earth would you be too embarrassed to go to your GP but then be prepared to show the national your bum hole Confused

Bananalanacake · 23/11/2018 10:41

I wouldn't be allowed as I have all my teeth.

Roomba · 23/11/2018 10:42

Yeah I know someone who had an article in Take A Break (about a serious illness her DD had, to raise awareness). I read the articulate, thoughtful article she actually wrote and I read the version TAB printed - very short sentences, big words removed, and made it sound like she only spotted her DD's illness due to an article she'd read in TAB beforehand. It was rather amusing, but she was a bit put out that people would think she really wrote in this style Grin

LolaVsPowerman · 23/11/2018 10:45

Some ex neighbors of mine have been on there multiple times. Truly awful people, and it makes me think that the Jeremy Kyle show researchers do very very little research!

Ispatienceavirtue · 23/11/2018 10:58

It just seemed so over the top! There were 2 sisters who had slept with the same bloke and they just yelled at each other from the start. I get that you might have a discussion that moves into an argument then shouting but this was the first words they said to each other then the mother did the same. It just seemed a bit scripted and directed like someone had said " I want you to come out shouting and swearing and go straight up to your sister and square up to her. The aggression seemed over the top so early in the "discussion", I just felt either they had made it up to get on tv ( with an obvious lack of pride ) or the show told them how to behave to be controversial?
The missing girl's family was sad but seemed to spend more time on the Dad's cross dressing then the missing girl.

thenightsky · 23/11/2018 11:10

Yes, I agree, the shouting and aggression always seems very 'acted'. If you watch carefully, you can see a member of staff sitting with people before the come out and they are constantly whispering in their ears. Probably winding them up to boiling point.

SylviaAndSidney · 23/11/2018 11:15

He gets an envelope slung back at him Grin

CluedoAddict · 23/11/2018 11:25

I know 2 people who have been on it. One was for a DNA test and one was accused of stealing so did a lie detector test.

The people on today are the daughters of Julie King. She is a very very regular guest on there.

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 23/11/2018 11:36

Honestly, I don't know anyone who'd have reason to be on there.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/11/2018 11:49

I get the impression (maybe because JK has older daughters then IIRC a son) that he really really doesn't like teenage boys .

Scenario: young lady , has baby , doesn't know who the father is.
DNA test for Potential Dads.

"If it's Mike he's got to step up" "If it's Dave I don;t want him anywhere near my baby" " I hope its Martin, he's more of a Dad than he'll ever be"

JK asks "Who do you want it to be"? like there's a choice . The father IS who the father IS.

And once the identity is known he spits " Of COURSE you're the childs father" ............ so if you're all so sure , why the DNA?

I don't care if she's fucked the entire football team and the manager , but the 'guests' can't decide who the Dad it , it's biology not wishful thinking Angry

And when they sit there wagging their leg , JK should slap them on the shin.

No I haven't been on it , but if I lived nearer to the studio.....................

ThunderInMyHeart · 23/11/2018 11:56

Oh, 70

That rant was brilliant!

DeadBod · 23/11/2018 12:04

My mum knew a couple of people that appeared on JK. They had learning difficulties and were exploited for tv entertainment, very uncomfortable viewing Sad

itsbritneybiatches · 23/11/2018 12:10

I went in the audience.
A girl I used to work with knew one of the security people and a few of us went.

They do tell you when to clap and stuff.

It was interesting to see it being filmed. The bit with the people taking part was all done in one shot.

Looked pretty real to me.

We had one lot making a show of themselves, one sad story and I can't remember the other one I think it was a quick DNA test.

Burlea · 23/11/2018 12:14

My daughters friend from school went on a few years ago re controlling boyfriend, within a few months he had killed her. I have never watched it don't want to either.

HellonHeels · 23/11/2018 12:22

Just googled this. It's like a modern day roman circus. Civilisation really is in decline. May go and join the preppers.

HellonHeels · 23/11/2018 12:25

Oh Burlea I missed your post.what a horrific event. Sorry for being flippant. Flowers

Rachelover40 · 23/11/2018 12:30

No but I would go if I could have a disguise and if I was paid. I'd give 'em a good story, have a rich imagination.

thenightsky · 23/11/2018 12:32

Me and some mates once (when pissed) plotted to go on with some incredulous story and we'd pretend to screech and lunge at one another on stage and stuff. Then we'd all take a bow at the end Grin We couldn't think of a good enough cover story though.
