Any eBay 'experts' out there?

I sporadically use eBay. I've sold a substantial piece of furniture recently. It's a rather 'specific' item so I knew it would take a while to sell and someone would really need to 'want' it, if that makes sense?

It's a vintage piece and cost me >£1k but it's no longer fit for our needs so decided to sell it on.

I reduced the cost from what I paid, having used it daily for 4yrs and it was a decent price for what it is.

Buyer had to arrange collection, due to its size, same as when I bought it (previously from eBay)

Anyway. Someone has bid and successfully 'won' the item and I haven't heard from them since.

That was 10 days ago.

I've sent a reminder & asked when they'll be arranging for it to be collected.

I've heard nothing.

This large item is sitting in the workplace of a friend of ours and whilst they've been brilliant and haven't asked for it to be moved, it has the potential to be damaged if it sits there much longer. And I'd hate them to think am taking advantage of their good nature when I told them it had been bought.

So, sorry, blethering.

Do I contact the buyer again and ask what's going on? Or seeing as they've ignored my last message do I presume they're no longer interested and relist it?

Has the buyer paid for the item? If not then you need to to into your resolution centre (or pick the right option from extra bits at the side of the listing) and open and unpaid item case. If they've paid via PayPal etc then see if any other contact details like a phone number are included in the email from PayPal. If all else fails go on live chat with eBay and ask for their advice.

Right. Thank you @blackcat86.

No payment has been made and no communication since my message reminding them for payment and asking re uplift.

Should I message them and say if I haven't heard by close of business then I'll be doing this or just go straight to the resolution part?

Sorry Confused

In that case go straight to opening an unpaid item case. You've given them plenty of time. This will automatically generate an email to the seller. After 48 hours you can close the case, an unpaid item mark is listed against the buyer and you can relist the item. If the buyer pays then they'll be motivated to contact you to make arrangements but my gut feeling is that you won't hear from them. Just remember that closing the unpaid item case is up to you, the option comes up after 48hrs in your open cases in the resolution centre.

Thank you! Complete PITA but it can be relocated from my friends business premises and relisted at least.

There's also a cancel sale option. I used this after someone won a mobile phone auction from me and didn't pay or respond to any messages except send three weird ones that looked like they had been generated by a cat standing on the keyboard. I half expected the account owner to tell me that the cat had bid, not him and it wasn't getting the phone as it didn't have any money to pay for it.

So I cancelled the sale and sent a second chance offer which luckily the next buyer accepted and paid straight away.

Don't accept PayPal for collected items BTW. You will have no tracking number meaning the buyer can get a refund and keep the item.

Did you sell it on auction. If so and you got other bids you can cancel the sale with the buyer who hasn’t paid and offer it to the other bidder.
You can contact eBay via their online chat
