A lot of misinformation on this thread - the injected vaccine is dead and cannot give you flu/cold type symptoms (however since I had it I've been ill and my asthma has got really bad, it's happened so many times in the 23 years I've had it, that I'm unsure I believe the 'science' anymore.
The intra-nasal vaccine given to children is live, and although it's claimed it can't give you flu, it does shed, and is dangerous to those around the child who are immunocompromised.
The intra-nasal vaccine is also contraindicated for children who've been wheezy recently.
It's interesting that two separate people on this thread have reported that their children have swollen lips after the nasal spray.
The nasal spray has been withdrawn in America as it's seen as less effective than the dead injected vaccine.
Children are not vaccinated for their own sake, it's for herd immunity and to protect those who are most vulnerable to complications of flu (who would be eligible for the injected vaccine anyway). Children are little hot-houses of germs.
If it was for 'protection' then young, healthy adults/older children (those in Y6 are not given the spray - are they immune to flu?) would also be offered it, as in the case of the Spanish Flu, it was this group who were most affected (due to their own immune system being too aggressive and killing the victim along with the flu), they wouldn't be protected now.
