Questioning Christmas....

Today my Dd told me that her friend doesn’t believe in Christmas, my heart skips a beat seen as she’s only 6 and I hadn’t expected this sort of conversation with a six year old, my dd then told me that her (the friend) whole family doesn’t believe in Christmas. I assume it’s for religious reasons and think they may be jehovahs. My dd then said. ‘It’s sad doesn’t believe in Christmas because when she wakes up on Christmas morning she won’t have any presents from Santa.
I just said it wouldn’t matter because she don’t believe so she wouldn’t be upset. She seems happy with that answer. Please tell me another way to word this in case the subject comes up again. Obviously having to tread carefully as we do Santa big in our house.

I don't think you need to word it another way I think you gave a really good and age appropriate explanation.

If it comes up again perhaps you could use it to explain Christmas isn't only about santa and presents. We do santa but my 3 year old knows it's a special day to spend with family and friends, she also has started sorting her stuff so people with less than her can have stuff too, it's nice to be nice.
