Tips for helping DD get changed fast for PE?

DD says she is always the last one to get dressed. She is very meticulous and that’s not going to disappear any time soon - and I’m fine with that. However it would be nice for her not to feel that she is so much slower than everyone else. So far we have improved speed by:

  1. only doing one blouse button instead of all (pinafore on top so no one can tell)
  2. wearing pe shorts under her dress so she’s already part ready
  3. wearing white socks which she can keep on for pe

As it’s getting colder we can no longer do the white socks - I’ll have to put her in tights. But this is going to slow her down massively so any tips would be appreciated!

Leggings instead of tights? Getting tights on is such a faff.

Could you do it at home with her, a few times? If you’re you’re watching her, you might be able to see where she can speed up a bit.

2 pairs of tights? One ready rolled in her bag for after PE.

I’ve tried doing it with her at home with a timer loads of positive encouragement- it is mainly the tights that are a faff.

Leggings are a good idea - with socks too? Will that look weird??

Polo shirt instead of shirt?

Pull on trousers instead of dress?

Pull-on trousers, with slimline shorts underneath? Although that would mean more blouse buttons to do up, but could she put the blouse on over her head, done up?
A skirt with shorts underneath might be easier than a dress, especially if it's a soft jersey skirt which can go on any way round.
Is the PE t-shirt a similar colour to the blouse, and could she wear it under her blouse? (Not good if the school is stifling hot)
Does she definitely know how to lay clothes out so that they go on the right way round first time?
Is her blouse and dress large enough to easily get her arms into?
Does she use the over-the-head or wriggle-arms-for-ages technique to get out of her t-shirt, blouse and dress?

Several girls at our school wear leggings with socks. It looks fine and I've never thought about it. On PE days DD(6) wears soft shorts with knee-length socks under her dress rather than tights. The socks are long enough to go over her knees for warmth.
