How tall is your 6-7 year old

One of my daughters is 6 - (7 in 2 months )
And she’s very short compared to others her age . She is now 107cms

I took her to the gp a year ago but he basically told me not to worry .
I am thinking about going back because you get children have no caught up and overtaken her and she’s still tiny !

I was wondering if anyone else had a child this size or what kind of size other children her age are.

Would I be over reacting to go back again and ask for them to measure her again?

Ds7 is 134cm but he is one of the tallest and always has been. Has she roughly followed a line on centile chart - I think that's a more helpful indication tbh?

I want to say 2nd centile is still normal. My DC is really small and at the 2nd centile too. Was she following her line from birth? I remember they say they can go up and down 2 centile lines. So unless she was say a 50th centile baby and dropped to 2nd, the. I won’t worry.

DC was referred the paediatric department in the hospital when she dropped below the 0.4 line before. It was at her 2nd year check. But she was discharged as they don’t think there’s anything wrong. They looked at things like food intolerances such as coeliac. She’s now hovering around the 2nd centile. Only 98cm at 4yo. DC1 is 50th iirc, nearly 130cm at 7yo.

What I mean is siblings can vary quite a bit.

Ds was 7 last week, we measured him and he’s 132cm.

With a tallish dad and a shortish mum you really could get any trajectory for your kids or a variety. I had one very tall grandma and one 5' nothing one, I took more after the tall one, my sister took more after the small one. Similarly DH took after a tall side of his family, his brother is much smaller. Our kids are one tall one short for age as well, small is nearly caught up with big and taller than some of his friends (3 year gap).

I'd just keep an eye on growth - measure every couple of months say, and plot in her red book. My 6 yr old is probably as close to the top of the charts as yours is to the bottom, but someone has to be at the ends of the range!

Girls charts are different from boys in height fairly early on I think.

I just thought I should double check that statement, got the boy and girls charts in front of me. The following figures are all 50th centile

Age 2 Boy 87 - Girl 86
Age 4 Boy 102.5 - Girl 102.0
Age 7 Boy 122 - Girl 121
Age 10 Boy 138 - Girl 138 (girl start their growth spurt)
Age 13 Boy 155 - Girl 155 (both into growth spurt)
Age 16 Boy 173 - Girl 163 (boys have a bit more growing but girls are about adult height)

So early on boys are a little bit bigger than girls then around 10/11 the girls overtake.

Op Given I have the chart in front of me I'm reading her to be between the 2nd and 0.4th lines. I think I'd be tempted to take her back to the GP. At 5'3 you are about 25th centile and your DH at 6ft is 75th centile. Unless there are some small grandparents I'd get the to recheck her.

Agree that you should take her back and ask fir a referral to a paediatrician. Child Growth Foundation have useful info on their site and a parent facebook forum. She's a long way off parental height target. Some girls stop growing around 11, others might not stop til 14, so it's good to check things early.
