Had mishap whilst running today & have take a chunk out of my shin. Not sure if I need to get it dressed or stitches but think there’s nothing to stitch!

Oh no! I'd probably try and get to a pharmacist asap and see what they advise.

icebearforpresident · 22/11/2018 17:42

What’s that sticking out of it!?!?

I’d be heading to A&E with that, or at least out of hours/urgent care

BishopstonFaffing · 22/11/2018 17:42

Yes. At least get it cleaned out. And maybe a tetanus jab.

ouch I would - that looks too wide to heal easily on it's own. Even if they just put a couple of steri strips to help it along.

safariboot · 22/11/2018 17:43

Minor injuries/urgent care I'd say. Deffo looks a bit too nasty to first aid at home.

Santasstuffedsack · 22/11/2018 17:43

You’re likely to get an infection. Nurse at doctors surgery to have it cleaned and wrapped or A&E but cover it with a non-sticky covering before going.

DeezMutts · 22/11/2018 17:43

Bloody hell I’d be down at minor injuries with that Shock

costacoffeecup · 22/11/2018 17:44

Bloody hell, yes you need to get it seen to! Walk in might do it with steri strips but I think it might need stitching

costacoffeecup · 22/11/2018 17:45

I am a total wimp and I would definitely be fainting all over the place if that had happened to me, you're very stoic OP!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 22/11/2018 17:45

Wtf is that sticking out of it?
Get thee to minor injuries.

Woopsimsorry · 22/11/2018 17:45

WTF is sticking out of it Shock

HoleyCoMoley · 22/11/2018 17:49

That definately needs to be cleaned properly wnd dressed by an expert, pharmacists will not be able to help. It looks really sore,

strawberrypenguin · 22/11/2018 17:52

Yep. Doctors if they're still open. Or minor injuries if you have one. Possibly A&E depending on what you have sticking out of it.

If GP is closed then I'd wash and cover and get an emergency appointment on the morning if it doesn't need A&E

AvonCallingBarksdale · 22/11/2018 17:54

What’s sticking out??? Looks very painful Shock

HurtsLikeABitch · 22/11/2018 17:55

Thanks all - my partner is going to take me to out patients. It happened this morning & is still throbbing! I couldn’t even look at it at first .
In a group of 4 when it happened & proud of myself that I didn’t 😭

TheHobbitMum · 22/11/2018 17:55

I think it's safe to say you need that looked at!

Harrykanesrightsock · 22/11/2018 18:02

I watched something the other day where the doctor said open wounds need to be cleaned under local anaesthetic to be able to give them a good scrub to lesson the risk of infection.

VictoriaBun · 22/11/2018 18:05

If that is a shard of bone - then I think you have your own answer !

Knittedfairies · 22/11/2018 18:08

Bloody hell, that looks painful!

funkybum · 22/11/2018 18:09

Oooh. I want to poke it!

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 22/11/2018 18:13

that's a cracker!

Very much past running it under the cold tap and dabbing a bit of antiseptic on!! Shock

Good luck at casualty!

halfwitpicker · 22/11/2018 18:14

You're kidding, right?

tempname111 · 22/11/2018 18:24

Ye Gads, yes that needs medical attention!

FannyFifer · 22/11/2018 18:27

Does it just look huge cos it's zoomed in?

The sticky out bit is a bit of skin pushed back I'm guessing.

Make sure it's cleaned out, try and smooth the bit of skin back over it a bit and put a non stick dressing on & see how it is in a day or so.

Obviously hospital if it's massive & thats a bit of bone though.

BlueEyedBengal · 22/11/2018 18:40

Yes straight to a & e for you I think for a clean out and injection. Sometimes like this can easily end in a serious infection.
