Where can I buy Jeans/leggings for skinny daughter

My 11 year old daughter has always been of slim build and I’ve always struggled with finding bottoms that fit. It’s worse now that she’s aware of fashion styles as she’s just started secondary school.

Retailers I’ve already tried, H&M, Next Slim range, new look, gap, all food retailers and River island. River island used to be the best place but now even they don’t fit.

Leggings that fit in length look like joggers and jeans that have adjustable waist look like ‘Mum fit’ jeans. I’ve also sewn leggings in the past but they never look right.

Does anyone know where I can get super slim fit leggings/jeans? Please help!

My 10 yo is the same. Average height but v slim. She has the best success with H and M jeggings (leggings not adjustable) as they are v v skinny (prob don't fit many kids!) and H and M thicker fabric leggings in a size too small (and just kind of roll her socks down/wear boots to cover and ankle gap)! I always look at leggings/jeggings in any shop I'm in and from time to time any one of them seems to have produced a v random skinny cut pair. She has 1 pair from Tesco that are good, and sometimes has some luck at Next.

She doesn't wear trousers at school but when she did M and S was best. I'd get slim fit adjustable, or 'tall' and then age below hers.

My DS has some John Lewis jeans and they are long for the waist measurement.

DD has a 19" waist and 30" length legs. She's 12 and this is exactly my problem too. I feel your pain.

TU (Sainsbury's) has come up trumps at times with skinny jeans and H&M and occasionally New Look for school trousers. Same as others for leggings - wear with boots or thick walking socks and walking shoes.

There needs to be a range for our thinner children.

What’s your budget?

poppingalf · 21/11/2018 21:40

Hollister!!

hp2 · 21/11/2018 21:42

I second the Sainsbury’s Tu range .

Klees · 21/11/2018 22:05

No budget for a good fit! We’ve tried H&M and Sainsburys but had no luck :( sometimes I think it’s luck of a design rather then brand?
Do you think sports leggings would be a better fit? Not tried the Adidas/Nike sports leggings.
I’ve not tried Hollister so I’ll try them next. I took her shopping and went in so many shops and it’s so disheartening. I don’t understand why kids clothing is still sold in ages rather then a variety of sizes like adults.

After going round every shop for skinny jeans for a very skinny girl, we eventually found the perfect skinny jeans in matalan. No need to pull in the waist too much and not baggy in the legs.

BrickByBrick · 21/11/2018 22:38

We have had some reasonable success with M&Co.

TidaQuel · 21/11/2018 22:43

My DD is 9 but has the same problem. She had some great skinny jeans from gap a while ago, they were really skinny.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/11/2018 22:45

Zara for my DD , really good and also mainly adjustable waists.

sweetkitty · 21/11/2018 22:48

I have three DDs like this! The good news is once they get to about age 12 Primark does size 4 jeans.

DD3 ties a hair bobble is the extra fabric

Cherries101 · 22/11/2018 18:34

Abercrombie kids.

Hiphopopotamous · 22/11/2018 18:56

Topshop Joni, the waist sizes go down to tiny ones

Cleanermaidcook · 22/11/2018 19:04

LaRedoute online are ok for slim fit

DoveSecret · 22/11/2018 19:10

My DD buys hers from Top Shop. Her legs look like baguettes. There is nothing to them

babooshkamybush · 22/11/2018 19:15

Second topshop...or occasionally asos. My daughter is a nightmare to buy for as she only likes skintight jeans - fine, except she's got a tiny waist and stick legs and is relatively tall. I often take in the waist...it helps if you can make alterations...

RandomMess · 22/11/2018 19:25

Verbaudet and gap slim - both this are cut slimmer in the waist and hips.

Klees · 22/11/2018 19:53

Ahhh the bobble trick, she won’t have that anymore. Not cool apparently 😂

Topshop was a no but not tried in about 6 months so maybe worth another try.

She likes them to be skin tight, most jeans/leggings that I have to take in tend to be baggy on the thighs still 🤔 and I’m not that skilled to fix that.

I’ll try the following, Gap, Abercrombie kids, Zara, Hollister and Matalan and let you all know how I get on!

I was always very slim and wanted them sprayed on and the hollister 'jeggings' are basically that but with pockets and a proper button so look like proper jeans, their super skinny are good too - I would go into a shop and try them rather than online as their sizing is or always was at least, a bit off so definitely worth a trip. I still wear jeans that look sprayed on and still swear by them!
