Pay this bill or not?

What would you do about this?

I hired a new cleaner about 5 weeks ago, via an agency to come and clean, iron and change bed linen once a week on a day we are all out at work. The agreement is she will clean but not tidy (as with all other cleaners I've ever had).

We have various security cameras in the house due to previous burglaries / attempts, none are hidden and are in plain sight.

Second week i notice she has turned all of the cameras to the wall. Hmm, bit odd but didn't bring it up directly, just turned them back again.

Then last week I was looking through the footage on the cameras, I tend to do it once a week or so, and I basically see a video of her rummaging through living room dresser drawers. I am not the most organised person, but these drawers contain things like chequebooks, passports, pens and paper, stuff the kids have thrown in there, and occasionally cash. The clearly do not contain any cleaning materials. She spends a good 2 minutes rummaging and lifting up everything in there.

I sent the footage to the owner of the business and have obviously terminated the contract. However, the owner of the business is now chasing me for payment, which is completely irritating me. On the one hand, cleaning was done, but on the other hand I feel that I basically caught her looking for things to take.!! She may well have taken things where there are no cameras in other parts of the house.

What would you do? Pay the bill and think good riddance, or tell her to go whistle?

Absolutely no way would I pay!

I wouldn’t pay.

In fact I’d give that footage to the police.
