Absolutely dreading night out.

Back in the summer my mate and I were invited to a Christmas do.

We were really chuffed that we were asked (everyone was invited, but several people made a point of coming up to us and asking if we were going and saying they hoped we would).

We (my mate and I) said it each other 'it'll probably be crap, but heigh... we'll have each other, we'll get drunk and have a laugh'.

But that was back in the summer.

Now, it's this Friday and I'm dreading it. I suspect everyone there will be dolled up to the 9s (there have been mutterings about getting hair and nails done). My mate's decided he's come down with a cold, so I'm fully expecting him to bail.

People know we've got tickets (which we've paid for) and would think it rude if we didn't go.

Everyone's really nice. Maybe it'll all be better than I'm expecting...

Please perk me up with evenings and events you were dreading which turned out to be really good fun.

Thank you for all the responses she says, bitterly-

But I just want to say, I've had the most brilliant evening EVER.

And I'm in love with Emma!

It's those nights we dread the most which turn out to be the best! And can I just say again how much i'm in love with Emma!

Are you home now?

AuntMarch · 23/11/2018 23:37

I don't understand who "everyone" is, why you and your friend were such important guests, or why you changed your mind about wanting to go, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 23/11/2018 23:40

Who's emma?

HoleyCoMoley · 23/11/2018 23:43

Sounds a good evening but who is emma

IdblowJonSnow · 23/11/2018 23:43

Glad you had fun! Who is Emma?!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 24/11/2018 00:25

Emma is awesome!

We're not important guests at all!

The whole thing was an event organised by our exercise class teacher. All were welcome. Me and my mate are relatively new to the class, but lots of people encouraged us to attend, so we did.

Emma goes to the class. She's at least 2" taller than anyone else there, and exercises her heart out. Everyone is scared of her.... Turns out, she's the loveliest women I've ever met.. Go Emma!

it's unusual to meet someone who's so absolutely physically perfect who then turns out to be one of the nicest people ever.

We should all know an Emma!

and, btw, I could of REALLY used your help and comments when I was dreading the evening.

You were all NOWHERE until Emma came along. Just saying.

Does Emma come here?

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 24/11/2018 00:50

I actually hate Emma.

I'm off.

Get over it. You had a good time which you wouldn’t have had if people had replied and persuaded you not to go. Hopefully it’s a lesson learned that you don’t need other people to help you make decisions and the lesson that most of us know: That a night you’re dreading and don’t want to go to often turns out to be great and you had a nice time. You’re extra lucky as you got to meet an Emma.

Sometimes posts slide off before anyone can get to them - you shouldn’t take it personally. Next time you desperately need a response, bump your own thread a couple of times.

Having said that, it does sound as if you copied ok by yourself after all, so that’s a good learning point for you.
