Saw this folly on Grand Designs this season. It looks amazing! I wonder why it's up for sale already?

It's beautiful but it's far too small for a family.

Tronkmanton · 20/11/2018 18:36

The toilets are on the top floor...imagine the nightmare with potty training!!

AornisHades · 20/11/2018 18:39

We were a bit flummoxed as to how that was going to work with young children when it was on GD.
She did look like she'd had enough of his project by the end of the show. I thought she was going to leave him at one point.

Myheartisbeating · 20/11/2018 18:40

I drive past this house on my way to work. It’s right beside a busy road, you can see straight into their living room when your stuck in traffic outside it (pretty much every evening!).

NoUnicornsToSeeHere · 20/11/2018 18:43

Can anyone remember how much they spent on it/doing it up?

whatsthestory123 · 20/11/2018 18:44

wonder how much profit they will make

whatsthestory123 · 20/11/2018 18:45

bugger cross post

Caprisunorange · 20/11/2018 18:48

I don’t think they’ll get anything like that for it. It’s very expensive for the area

SwaylorTift · 20/11/2018 18:53

I was going to say the same as the pp about it being right by a busy road.

HiHoToffee · 20/11/2018 18:56

That was one of the few episodes I watched recently and like others I thought they had already outgrown it before it was even finished.

Their relationship was also under huge pressure.

HopeGarden · 20/11/2018 19:01

Very pretty but it looks very impractical to live in with a small child. And the rooms look tiny.

Isitweekendyet · 20/11/2018 19:04

Bit of a posh two up two down tbf

misses point

LoadsaBlusher · 20/11/2018 19:20

Yes same as PP I also watched this and was sitting saying to DP “ that’s far too small for them “.

I thought the external stairs were so so impractical , getting a pram in and out for example . Plus they looked so slippy , imagine that in a wet or icy winters day .

Zero storage , Where would the toys and the laundry go

CrabbityRabbit · 20/11/2018 19:44

Does anyone remember what he spent on it?

PinkBuffalo · 20/11/2018 19:47

It looks lovely (v.v. Expensive!!)
But with all those odd shaped rooms I would struggle with fitting my small amount of furniture round those shaped walls.
Agree with PP, as a holiday lovely though

Santasstuffedsack · 21/11/2018 20:48

I live and work very close by, drive past it 20 times a week and it was very interesting with how the cameras purposely were turned away from the noisy, incredibly busy & fast A road that is 15 feet from the building & on a crossroads. There is also a footpath through the grounds. You’d have to really love it to pay that money for that square footage on that road.

EnidButton · 21/11/2018 21:17

Why on earth would you get pregnant again whilst converting the world's smallest house with a toddler in tow? I know accidents happen but really.

All GD babies are born wearing tiny puffs jackets and a fleece in a caravan in February when they were supposed to be in by the previous Christmas

EnidButton · 21/11/2018 21:18

*puffa

MrsMoastyToasty · 21/11/2018 21:20

There's a lot of stairs for very little square footage.

xyzandabc · 21/11/2018 21:25

Another one here who drives past it multiple times a week. It's small and quirky but right next to a fast main road, miles from anywhere. Apart from walking through fields, you'd have to drive everywhere. With the trees surrounding it I'm not even sure it's got great views from the house.
I think it's very overpriced for both size and location.

sonjadog · 21/11/2018 21:47

Glad I´m not the only one who has noticed that the woman always gets pregnant during a GD build.

MummaGiles · 21/11/2018 21:50

Of course there’s a nursery. Every second couple on GD gets pregnant mid-project.

nocoolnamesleft · 21/11/2018 22:35

Just knew which build it would be. Totally impractical, even unsafe, for small children.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 21/11/2018 23:05

Lovely house but the layout would seriously piss me right off.

beeefcake · 21/11/2018 23:07

Looks more suitable for a holiday let than a house to live in. Although probably for an adult group not young children. I would probably struggle with the stairs myself to be honest Shock
