Where can I get really good quality, warm wellies?

I’m a dog walker and buy a cheap pair of wellies almost every year but this isn’t proving to be very cost effective as they tend to split at the seam, aren’t waterproof for long and are not warm (I often end up with numb toes!!).
Can anyone recommend a great pair of warm, long lasting wellies?
I know Hunters are one of the best known names but I’ve been put off by recent reviews saying they are not as great as they used to be.
Just looking for a pair that will last several years, feel comfy for long walks and keep my feet nice and toasty.

If you don’t mind cost then Le Chameau neoprene lined are the way forward. I’ve had mine for years and they’re still in perfect condition. They’re warm and lovely. Just the initial outlay is quite a lot! But absolutely worth it.

The Warm Welly Company! Neoprene lined, not too expensive IIRC and last forever!

Hmmalittlefishy · 20/11/2018 10:20

Have you thought about buying some wellie socks? Not as expensive as hunter wellies etc and will keep your feet toasty and warm even with cheap wellies.

Really bitterly disappointed in le chameau (the clip things at the side just fall off) BUT highly rate my ariat storm stoppers with added memory foam insoles. Average 10 miles most weekdays plus yard duties and still going strong second (no third!) winter in

Aigle

MissRainbowBrite · 20/11/2018 10:30

Aigle neoprene lined wellies are awesome, not a cold toe in sight. If you're not too fussy on colour you can find them on Amazon for as little as £80ish.

Look up Dublin River Boots. They are beautifully comfortable, stylish enough to wear out and about not just on dog walks (they are design for equestrian use, so mucking out yards, walking through fields etc). Totally waterproof, warm as toast. Admittedly at just over £100 a pair they are not cheap, but I've had mine two years now where they get worn every day for at least 6 months of the year and they are still good as new and getting comfier with every wear. They are like slippers now!

I love my Hunter wellies but they’re hopeless in the cold. I really suffer with cold feet so I do not at all look forward to cold dog walks. Going to look at some recommendations here - Warm Wellies sounds great!

WhyDidIEatThat · 20/11/2018 10:43

I have raynauds so my life revolves around keeping warm 😀

Afternooninthepark · 20/11/2018 11:14

Thanks all, will check all those recommendations out.
why I have raynauds too, not much fun is it? How are your fingers in the winter? the pain in mine when I’m dog walking (especially when it’s cold AND rainy) is horrid. I’m looking into some electric heated gloves but they are quite pricey!

You could always try thermal insoles. I use them and they really do work!

Wallywobbles · 20/11/2018 11:17

We are farming/horsey family and we all have sheep skin/wool inner soles for our boots. Very good and comfortable.

WhyDidIEatThat · 20/11/2018 11:19

My hands have weirdly improved with age, they used to be the worst - in fact have most problems with them in summer if the temperature changes too abruptly in the evening, even if still mid 20s. Feet have got worse, first day of single digit temperatures and chilblains arrived on most toes 😢

Afternooninthepark · 20/11/2018 11:23

Will check out insoles, thanks.
why chilblains are not fun!

I have Muck boots and they are warm and have lasted really well too. I like neoprene as it stretches round your calves to keep all of your leg warm. Someone on here recommended Corrymore mohair socks as being very cosy and they really are lovely.

I suffer with cold hands, and what I have found is that wrist warmers make a massive difference. I then layer gloves over them - Sealskinz or down mittens with heat packs in when it gets really cold

leggybrunette · 20/11/2018 11:34

I bought some Rudd's wellies to try as I'm sick of always having cold feet and split wellies which with a horse isn't ideal!

They have a 12 month no split guarantee and have been tested against horsey type activities and so far I've been really impressed, and importantly no cold feet!!

They're not cheap at £130 but after wasting £70/80 on wellies that don't last the winter I decided it was time to spend a bit more money.

ritzbiscuits · 20/11/2018 11:52

Definitely Aigle wellies. I have the Miss Julie ones in brown and I think they look quite stylish.

I think I spent £80+ on mine but they are fantastic quality and I think they will last many years. Made in France, I think they are equestrian based so are quality.

I wear 'Heat Holder' socks with mine which I love. I get very cold feet so these are perfect for me.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 20/11/2018 11:53

Another vote for Much Boots. I love mine. They are very comfortable, lovely and warm (thanks to the neoprene) and not too ruinously expensive.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 20/11/2018 11:54

Gah! Muck Boots!

BigusBumus · 20/11/2018 12:11

Le Chameau boots. These Ones. I've had mine for 14 years now and they are still like new.

Kenworthington · 20/11/2018 12:14

I’ve got some aigle neoprene lined wellies and they are awesome. I got them from the local equestrian/farmer shop

Queenofthedrivensnow · 20/11/2018 12:16

@Wallywobbles can you link please?

BlackInk · 20/11/2018 12:19

I love my boggs!

I got Dunlop furry lined wellies from Go Out Doors. Were about £30 and they are lovely and cosy. My Mum has had some for a few years and they're still going strong

CakeNinja · 20/11/2018 12:29

Definitely neoprene lined le chemeau wellies, the warmest things ever!
