Taking a taxi for a short distance

I’m unsure whether I should do this ...

I’ve had a horrendous few days with anxiety related illness and had a huge panic attack yesterday followed by a series of smaller ones , probably 8-10 in total . Ended up being taken into a well-being room at university and given a cup of tea, then seen by a psychiatric nurse and then by a GP who gave me diazepam . Took 6mg in total last night and I’ve to take more this morning apparently (2mg half hour before leaving house and 2mg at onset of panic).

I’m also taking maximum dose cocodamol for pain so GP said chances are I will feel the diazepam pretty strongly.

I’m off my face to put it mildly , can hardly put one foot in front of the other and feel like I’ve had an anaesthetic - can’t focus eyes well and can’t stay awake long. I’m supposed to have a class at 11am and my lecturer wants to see me at 10.30 ... my thoughts are I should maybe get a taxi to uni? It’s a ten min walk at best ... uni said it could be a coping strategy until the end of term (taking taxis to and from class, of which I only have 4 a week)

Get a taxi, put your safety first.

It's ok to take help, like a taxi, when you recognise that you need it x Thanks

Take the taxi. You have excellent reason to.

Definitely take the taxi. Is there someone to meet you when you get there? My tutor used to meet me at the door when I was unwell.

Also, if you need help with the cost of the taxis speak to student support. There won't be time to apply for DSA but there should be emergency funds available for this sort of need.

Go back to bed. Thats quite a high dose for a new patient, especially potentiated by the codeine. Sleep til midday at least.

When I used to work as a taxi driver 1 of our regular runs of an evening was from 1 pub to a different pub, it was no more than 600 yards, none of the taxi drivers minded because theres normally a minimum fare so it was still a job Flowers

My tutor’s meeting me at her office yeah , which is only one floor up from the front door. Not sure what’s happening with my classes. It’s an NHS degree (AHP) so I don’t know if I can take a fortnight out and still be eligible for the exams . I suspect probably not even though I think that’s what I need right now .
