Best fresh soups?

From a supermarket. I've just tried a couple if the Glorious street food soups, one was nice, the other a bit disappointed

Any recommendations?

Oh and I can make my own but don't really want to.

I've found them all to be disappointing, even the M&S ones, which look so nice, but none of them are a patch on home made.

I don't want to make my own soup either, but I want to eat disappointing, overpriced supermarket soup even less. If you notice, most of them are made from very very cheap ingredients (leek & potato, lentil, carrot and coriander) but sold at a premium price.

Tideford. Amazing! Tastes just like homemade. Disappointingly I've only found it for sale in Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado.

Everyone needs to try Tideford - I'm such a huge fan it's nice to have the opportunity to talk about such a boring subject ;)

Haha thanks, I was going to try Morrisons this week for a change so might find some there.

I don't mind making soup but always end up disappointed that there's not more. Maybe I need a bigger pan.

Tideford is all vegan by the way. It can sometimes be found in the vegan section, not the normal soup section - it seems to depend on the store.

Tesco do a lovely minestrone soup. It's really filling loads of chunky veg and bits of pasta. Yum!

I'm the opposite. I make lentil soup to use up a slightly bendy carrot, and end up with about 4 portions of lentil soup that I don't really want. So I put it in the freezer. Repeat a few times and I've more soup than I know what to do with. Don't use a particularly large pan, just the big one from a normal set and the average soup recipe.

Yorkshire Provender soups are really nice

Get yourself a soup maker, I use mine all the time gorgeous soup in 20 minutes, one of the best gadgets I’ve ever bought.

Do not whatever you do buy Sainsbury's pea and ham fresh soup. Last year it was delicious - all natural ingredients. This year I bought it and it tasted all slimy, with a horrible, almost burning aftertaste. Looked at the ingredients and it was something like 45% vegetable oil. Looked up an adult's fat allowance for the day and it met it, in one carton of supposedly healthy soup. It's shocking that they can change recipes this way. The "Taste the Difference" label was clearly meant ironically

Yorkshire provender in chicken and lentil is my favourite ready made soup. Also cully and sully creamy tomato and basil. Both available in Tesco.

stressedoutpa · 19/11/2018 18:25

Yorkshire Provender are the best IMO.
