Am I being upsold re making our will?

Dh and I are making our mirror wills. We own our home outright (worth about 270k) and have about 30k in savings, plus we both have life insurance for 250k.
Will maker guy is suggesting we should, on top of making our normal will with our named guardian for ds in it, make a protected property trust in case one of us goes in to a home, and also a pilot trust. I don’t know if we need both those things, it’s going to cost us an extra 1.5k to add in to the will and we don’t have that extra cash right now?

How do you get them signed? We have been looking at this and I think need 6.... business, health and finance for each of us. We've been quoted £2k as part of will writing which we have declined. Got as far as filling them in online.... but who do we need as witnesses?

Recently done our wills, we didn't arrange LPA with the solicitor but are considering doing it online. Interesting thread. We did however, give naked guardians for our DC and ensure our property was swapped to 'tenants in common' from joint tenancy.

So you need a certificate provider and a witness. They can be the same person if it’s easier. CP can be a professional with knowledge of mental capacity, or someone who isn’t related (inc by marriage) to you or any of your attorneys, or employed by you or any attorneys and has known you for 2 years or more. So friends are good or neighbours.
