Swollen or lump on thyroid

I'm really worried about my thyroid. I suddenly seemed to develop a lump or swelling on one side of my thyroid. It's smooth and regular in shape but I think it feels quite hard.
I went to A&E with it, after my gp put the fear in me.
The consultant in A&E did my bloods and said she wouldn't worry about the goitre.
Bloods all came back fine. I have an ENT appointment in 2 weeks, but I'm worried!
I had a baby 6 weeks ago and have 2 other young children.

I know the consultant I saw in A&E said she wasn't worried about it but I'm now paranoid about it just being on one side and hard. I've convinced myself I have other symptoms too (although I think I've just talked myself into these).

Anyone else with similar experience?

I know someone this happened to and it turned out to be Graves’ disease. I don’t rwally understand much about it, but it’s a thyroid issue and manageable with medication.

I had a lump on my thyroid which suddenly became incredibly painful. Turns out I'd bled into a cyst. It was horrible at the time and I worried myself stupid after a throwaway comment by a sonographer. But 10 years down the line and it's all good. Try not to worry OP.

Was your lump hard?

Tbh, I don't know. Before the bleed, when I was lying down, I could feel something in my neck pressing on my windpipe but I really didn't think much of it. Only after it bled and filled up did I realise what it was. Then it was so painful I couldn't even touch it.

I worried myself stupid that it could have been cancer. I lost a stone in about 10 days and had to be prescribed Valium to cope. My DC were quite young at the time and all sorts of horrible thoughts kept running through my head. However, thyroid cancer is rare, and as my consultant told me, very treatable anyway. Try not to worry OP. If your Dr doesn't seem to concerned, then it's probably fine.
