Period a week late. Menopause at 44?

Medwaymumoffour · 17/11/2018 23:02

I can’t be pg as I took a test on Wednesday and it was clear. My periods are normally 28days but they have been 34 at the very longest. But 28 days since I had my dd four years ago. Obviously im no spring chicken but my mum went through the change at 56 and I though women normally go through menopause at the same age is he as their mums?

I had a early MC this May so I was fertile a few months back, but taking ov tests I don’t think I have ovulated in the past two months.

Maybe you just tested too early? I hot pregnant 4 times at 44. All sadly ended in mc.

N0b0dysMot · 17/11/2018 23:07

yeh, I"d relax. I'm 48 and I still get one more or less every month although it varies now, it used to be regular but now it's anything between every 3 weeks or every 5 weeks. But I think the irregularity started at about 44 so.................. you've years yet. My mum had her last period at 56. omg. I hope I'm done a long time before then.

No, not possible to be pg as no dtd any time around I “should” have OV, dates would be weeks out.

Sorry to hear that Santa, did you go on to have a baby? Was was ttc but stopped last month. I have had a period since so the only way I could be pg would put me at least six weeks so I should have got a positive test.

Gave up ttc after losing the last one at work 4 days before a birthday trip away.
Take another test op.

Test again, but mine started going wonky, with cycles anything from 21 to 40 days, at your age.

Now 49 and last logged a period 141 days ago!

Medwaymumoffour · 17/11/2018 23:16

Santa sorry to hear that. I knew my chances of MC was high at 44 but I didn’t realise it was 50:50 until my positive so although it was my first MC and a much wanted baby I was expecting it. Still a horrible shock. It would have been due 23rd of Dec, I think that will be a sad day.

Maybe time to test again in the morning? I’m sure I can’t be.

If it’s the menopause I hope it’s over ASAP. I feel too young for this.

It's not ''the menopause'' the first moment you get some irregularity in your cycle! You'll actually get used to this as well. I've had about four years now of periods coming roughly once a month. YOu get used to it. It is peri menopause.

Medwaymumoffour · 17/11/2018 23:23

Zzzz because we was ttc last month so there was a faint chance my last period was a wonky bleed. But if I haven’t had sex in the last three weeks, my pg test would be positive by now, hence I can’t be pg.

I hear about women having implantation bleeding so there was a faint chance I was pg iykwim?

My last pg was very faint at 16 dpo but there was no mistaking it, even though that’s around the time the baby was about to stop growing (Mcc)

I was using ovulation test kits after DD was born and after I stopped bf'ing, because I was 39 and periods hadn't returned. According to the kit I hadn't ovulated yet I clearly had as I found I was pregnant. Still can't understand it. After DS was born I never returned to normal periods and was peri menopausal. I'm 50 now and well out the other side.

Medwaymumoffour · 17/11/2018 23:27

Yes I think peri menopause. I heard you can be infertile and not ovulate for ten years before the proper menopause kicks in. If that’s the case and I’m just not ovulating every month I don’t need to see the gp? Most women of 44 wouldn’t know they wasn’t ovulating anyway. My fertility tests was just below peri menopause when I was 38. I have had two kids since but the child I had fertility tests for took two years.

Im 41..and my doctor has confirmed peri menopause for me. My nan was 39 when she went through it. My mom was early 50s. Best thing to do is to make a diary of how far apart your period are coming, light or heavy..how long they last each time. Then reassess. I would maybe do one more test early morning. Might be worth seeking medical advice if your worried, many other things can affect your periods. Hormone imbalances etc.

Mummymummums · 17/11/2018 23:34

My GP tested hormone levels and did a scan just to check it was nothing else. I think only because I was on the young side for menopause but that's what it was.

Stress makrs me miss the odd period

Medwaymumoffour · 18/11/2018 11:43

Tested with fmu and it’s negative. I will try not to stress too much and see what happens in the next few months before I see my gp.

I hope it’s not the menopause as I was just deciding to stop adding to my family so I could do with time to think about the about the benefits of never pushing a pram or going to a toddler group again before it starts. Deciding on your own your family is complete is easier then circumstances dictating you will never have another baby.

So menopause please away until I turn 45 at least 😛
