What age did you start making your own Christmas dinner?

Ever since time began, I and the rest of my family have visited my grandparents house for Christmas dinner. DH is starting to make noises about staying home this year and to be honest I can see his point - I'm 33 and we have a 1 year old son! It just feels so wrong not to go 'home' for Christmas (although I can and will visit after dinner as they only live 30 mins away.)

When did you start cooking your own Christmas dinner? Should I start being a proper adult now at last Blush

I always make Christmas dinner. I'm gobsmacked so many of you don't. You are very spoilt and I freely admit I'm very jealous.

I don't mind it but the Christmas when I had a baby and a 2 year old was bloody hard work.

Mid twenties when I moved in with my husband to be. Before that we'd probably both gone back to parents.

I was 24
But it wasn't christmas, we had our Christmas dinner in October in 1992 as Dh was posted to the Falklands for 4 months over christmas, so we had our very own Christmas before he went, with the tree and decorations and presents for ds who was 2

I'm 51 and I've never done it.
We are not usually at home, and when we are DH is the roast specialist so he makes Xmas lunch!

At 21 or 22, not sure. I'd moved far away some years before, but had previously travelled back for holidays.

I'm the only one in my family with kids. So I now host Christmas dinner. Saves me having to get presents home tbh. Though cooking the dinner and hosting is not enjoyable at all when there's so many people there. I'm just running around crazy the whole day

When we moved into our home we started to do Christmas dinner at home. Once we had dc then i refused to leave the house on xmas day and instead invite in laws to us (which they love).

18! But this year it'll just be me and DC so taking a break and having a takeaway Xmas dinner from the local pub 👍
