Sainsbury's points double up. What can you buy?

It looks as you can't spend points on food. We would have approximately £80 to spend. To spend it all on clothes? I don't even know if I will find anything that we need. I thought we could spend some on food and the rest on clothes.

You can also redeem them on toys, electricals and some (not all) wines, see www.itv.com/goodmorningbritain/money/martin-lewis-deals-nectar-points-double-up-and-free-santa-letter

We’re planning to replace our microwave and get some wine.

No food, but you can buy Taste The Difference wines. It's essentially all the non-food stuff though. I used mine on wine, printer cartridges, kitchen utensils and socks.

PickAChew · 17/11/2018 16:55

DH spent his on electronics and wine.

Champagne, new towels, kitchen bits, Lego, clothes, books and CDs plus a few gift bits here.

You can spend on lots of other stuff...electrical, entertainment, seasonal, homeware, toys, skincare, fragrance...see here in T&C www.nectar.com/brands/sainsburys-double-up
You do have to specify how much you want to swap in each category though - ie £20 electrical, £10 entertainment etc so suss out what you wNt to buy before swapping points for vouchers at the desk.

TattyCatty · 17/11/2018 17:08

No need to specify categories this year, which makes it much easier! Can use on lots of giftsets as well.

Onecutefox · 17/11/2018 17:09

I thought you double up and then spend those points whatever department you want at (not grocery of course) and don't indicate how much.

Oh, that's easier then.

You can only have multiples of £10. So if you have £99 of points, you can have £90 of vouchers. Unless you acquire another £1 worth before you redeem.

We redeemed them yesterday and got Christmas stuff. You can have most things, but not food and drink, except for Taste the Difference (Prosecco I think).

HRTpatch · 17/11/2018 17:32

We spent £100 of vouchers on Taste the Difference wine.

Over50andfab · 17/11/2018 17:42

No need to specify?? Sorry, hadn’t realised...might spwap mine this year then

Meet0nTheIedge · 17/11/2018 19:14

Yes, much easier this year without bring restricted to separate vouchers for each department. I got a scanner, scanned in eligible stuff till I got to the amount for my points, then got my vouchers, added my food to the trolley and paid, using the vouchers. Top tip - all the TTD wines have purple neck collars, spotting them on the shelves is easier once you know that.
