I’m curious what people think.

No googling or checking the Highway Code

Yes. Only know this because it was in the local rag last year. Bloody unfair though.

Endofthelinefinally · 17/11/2018 14:57

Yes.

Cleanermaidcook · 17/11/2018 14:59

Yes you can , you should only move for emergency vehicles if its safe and legal to do so.

Yes you can, it happened to my dad. He moved a few feet through a red light (and didn't obstruct any traffic) so an ambulance could get through. He appealed the fine and it was denied even though it was all on camera. I think it's appalling. Someone could have potentially died if that ambulance had been stuck for ages at traffic lights.

EmeraldVillage · 17/11/2018 15:00

According to one of those points avoidance courses DH did, yes you can.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 17/11/2018 15:00

Yes you can be.

overagain · 17/11/2018 15:00

Yes.

PattiStanger · 17/11/2018 15:02

Will you or could you?

I'd guess the simple answer is that you could but that you wouldn't in every case. There aren't police at every red light so unless it's a camera one I'd say unlikely.

ClairefromMergersAcquisitions · 17/11/2018 15:02

Yes. You could cause an accident going through a red light.

ScreamingValenta · 17/11/2018 15:03

I think I read a news article where this had happened, so I would say yes.

TheQueef · 17/11/2018 15:05

I'd assumed that you'd be able to argue your case.

notacooldad · 17/11/2018 15:08

Yes.
There was an article in my local paper about it. Someone was prosecuted for moving out of the way. They appealed and list. Apparently the advice is to stay put and the emergency vehicle driver will make the descion what to do.

notacooldad · 17/11/2018 15:09

lost

snophat · 17/11/2018 15:13

Yes you can there was one recently where a police car had blues and twos and signalled for the car to pull forward and they got done

bigbluebus · 17/11/2018 15:32

Yes. IIRC you can only go through a red light if directed to do so by a uniformed police officer.

Well I didn’t feel I had to say that in my op as I thought it would be extremely obvious.

But your question is unanswerable, you asked "will you get prosecuted" that's not a yes or no question, possible answer are maybe or it depends or who knows etc. What answer were you expecting?
