Nintendo switch or something else?

No idea about these things ... my 6 year old boy loves older video games like Sonic, MARIO, donkey kong, Pac-Man ..... he mentioned a switch this morning - would this be suitable for him?
Do you plug into a telly/monitor etc?!

I've literally no idea 💡 husband is rubbish at these things too 🤡

Personally I wouldn't get him a Nintendo Switch, and I say that as someone who loves mine. I would go for something like the super Nintendo mini. You get 21 games, including several Mario games and donkey Kong for just £70. Where as a switch with just one Mario game is going to cost over £300.

My dd2 is 6 and she has a Nintendo 2ds. I bought her the sonic classic collection and she has lots of Mario games - super Mario 64, super Mario bros, Mario party, mariokart. She also likes legend of Zelda, Pokemon and nintendogs.

Much cheaper than the switch and easier for small hands to hold. You could probably get all those games, the DS and case and headphones for less than the switch console on its own.

I think you can also download games from nintendo store but unsure as I've never done it.

However if you want a family console that you can use on tv the switch may be a better idea. Or an old Nintendo Wii which you can get for about £30 with games!

I agree with the above posts. The switch is awesome but it's unnecessary for a kid your son's age. He'll get just as much fun out of something cheaper. (I'm saying that as a switch owner. I adore it but I'm 29...I wouldn't get it for a kid cause it's so expensive!)

This is also a good point, I know Xbox and PS4 are also expensive but the switch is a handheld, and £250 worth of gadget in the hands of a young child is asking for trouble.

Thanks yes you're right we've had disasters before with cracked screens etc! Albeit my husband breaks more than the kids and pets out together Grin
