I'm taking a very excited DD next week Grin
How dressed up do people tend to be?
We are flying over for is so won't bring much and DD is very muck a tracksuit girl, I might get her into jeans for something so important!
Also were you able to get boosters for the shorter people?
Thanks!

Wear whatever you like. make it comfortable as the shows are loooong.
Yes you can get boosters- ask an usher to direct you to the cloakroom on, I think, the first floor. Go early as they run out.
Enjoy!

Stephisaur · 17/11/2018 13:11

I wore a dress and tights. Can’t remember what DH wore. People don’t tend to dress up for the theatre now, so just be comfortable but presentable :)

No idea on the boosters I’m afraid x

MrsScrubbingbrush · 17/11/2018 16:53

We went ages ago and I don't remember anyone being dressed up for it.

Yes, you can get booster seats.

ForalltheSaints · 17/11/2018 16:59

I have walked past the queue when going to the Curzon cinema nearby on a few occasions and do not recall seeing anyone dressed up.

SpottingTheZebras · 17/11/2018 17:00

Nobody dressed up at the performances I went to, which surprised me, but I’m sure anyone who does would feel welcomed doing so.

Blessthekids · 17/11/2018 17:03

I don't remember anyone being dressed up, largely jeans and leggings really. Its a great show but a long day if you are seeing both shows on the same day so yes comfortable is a good idea!

SongToTheSiren · 17/11/2018 17:06

DH and I went last month - both wore jeans & t-shirts. Some people were wearing HP jumpers and scarves but no one was dressed up. It's a long show (we saw both parts on the same day) and because it's packed it gets very warm. Just wear something comfy. It's a brilliant show, I'm sure you'll have a great time Smile

megletthesecond · 17/11/2018 17:06

Do you mean dressed up as in posh / smart clothes or dressed as in HP themed outfits?

FWIW we've been to the opera house and most people just wear jeans. I imagine the theatre is the same.

Matilda2013 · 17/11/2018 17:07

I went in culottes a T-shirt and vans. Not dressed up and I don’t think anyone really was. Didn’t need a booster. Show was fabulous! Maybe wait till second half for souvenirs if you’re planning to get any

HermioneWaslib · 17/11/2018 17:10

Not dressed up at all but costumes wouldn’t be out of place. Have a browse of the online gift shop beforehand so you’re prepared what she is/isn’t allowed. I bought a slytherin scarf for my dh and it’s brilliant quality for £17, I think that would make a great souvenir!

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 17/11/2018 17:11

Wear whatever you like plus a Hogwarts house scarf (fiendishly expensive from the theatre shop) or a cheap and cheerful Harry Potter hoodie from Primark at Tottenham Court Road. Or just your normal stuff, it’s fine.

TeenTimesTwo · 17/11/2018 17:27

We went in Sept. Didn't notice people in smart clothes but quite a few with Hogwarts related attire. DD wore her 'waiting for a letter from sweatshirt'.

It was ace.

We went back 3 times for souvenirs, not much queue at any point.

IamPickleRick · 17/11/2018 17:30

People don’t really dress up for the theatre anymore. I used to go straight from work so looked semi smart but last week I watched Hamilton in my converse, jeans and sweatshirt! Unless you meant in HP costumes, but no, no one really dressed up. The boosters are great if you are sitting in the very first few rows, it usually depends on the rake in the theatre. I am 5ft 2 and didn’t need one this time.

IamPickleRick · 17/11/2018 17:32

Have a look in the Noble collection in Covent Garden on the way back, it’s the only Studio approved supplier of replica items.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 17/11/2018 17:36

Went to the resent autism friendly performaces they were great.

But while there were a few dressed in HP merch its not every one.

My friend wore tracksuit i wore jeans and a hoodie (both none HP)

So basically if you mean dressed up fancy or dressed up costume neither are a requirement as in your not going to look out of place if you dont. Your also not going to look out of place if you do

bellinisurge · 17/11/2018 17:37

Wear whatever. You'll love it.

KitKat1985 · 17/11/2018 18:06

Hardly anyone dressed up at the performance I went to.

pottypotamus · 17/11/2018 18:11

We didn't dress up as such, just smart casual with jeans and top.

I did notice some kids had dressed up in HP fancy dress.

Doza · 17/11/2018 21:53

That's brilliant thanks everyone exactly what I was hoping!
And thanks for the booster seat info as well, I'll try and be early.
Cant wait Grin

They let you take your own water in, but they really do confiscate all other food before you enter the theatre.

EvadneLannis · 17/11/2018 22:11

The only version of dressed up I saw last week (2nd viewing) was HP merchandise. Grin

MeMeMeow85 · 17/11/2018 22:22

Definitely dress for comfort, as it’s a really long day. Also, the interval was quite long and I hadn’t planned anywhere to eat during the break (it was a really cold, rainy day, so not a good time to wander round outside). Maybe plan ahead and book a table somewhere nice in Covent Garden or Soho
