I think there's a dead body in my neighbour's bin (semi light hearted!)

Just that. We each live in one half of what used to be a large house. So we're close neighbours but there aren't any other ones for a few hundred yards. There's no street access to our bins (locked gate) and to reach them you have to walk past his entire house which has big windows and is very open. As in, you can see what he's watching on his tv and eating for supper. I have dogs too who would go mad if they even suspected a stranger around. The long and the short of this is - no one can get to our bins without arousing suspicion.

We help each other out by taking turns to take the bins out to the street and tonight I took the recycling ones out. Ours was crammed full but normal weight. His was EXTREMELY heavy to pull. Honestly, like there was a body or two in there. It was an effort to get it out to the street.

It's recycling! There should only be light stuff in there! Paper, cardboard and the like. I had a quick look and rummage around the top bit, but then I got scared I might touch something 😂 so I scurried back inside.

The neighbour is weird. Seems perfectly nice, but he's a complete loner - no friends and no girlfriend/wife and no children. He's mentioned a sister in passing but that's it. He doesn't socialise in the village, really keeps himself to himself. He has one cat which he obviously dotes on. Oh and he works entirely from home. He's just.....strange.

How am I going to know if there's a body in there?? There's only me and dd 11 in the house! I'm way too scared to go back out - BUT what is in there???? Something very heavy, I know that much.

Don’t panic, could be he’s had a clear out and it’s loads of papers or magazines something. Surely a body would go in the non recycling bin? Grin

Bicyclethief · 15/11/2018 22:41

Creepy

OriginallyfromLA · 15/11/2018 22:42

That's what I thought, but maybe he's doing a bit of reverse psychology??

You would have to have a shitload of magazines to get to that weight!

Wouldn't put body parts into the compost bin?

OriginallyfromLA · 15/11/2018 22:44

He's got a parcel of mine that I need to collect 😱

elephantoverthehill · 15/11/2018 22:45

*Wouldn't you put

OriginallyfromLA · 15/11/2018 22:45

We don't have compost bins. Just big bags for garden waste.

Ha my first thought was also “well that’s the wrong bin!”

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 15/11/2018 22:49

But yeah he’s probs a murderer. Sorry.

Oakmaiden · 15/11/2018 22:49

Chucking out old magazines actually gets very heavy very quickly.

It is probably his old porn collection. based on no evidence at all

2anddone · 15/11/2018 22:50

I was reading this thinking surely a dead body would go in either the garden waste or food waste bin 😆

elephantoverthehill · 15/11/2018 22:51

I think that if one was to get rid of a body through our small compost waste collection system, you would need a large chest freezer and just hack off bits of the body each week. OP I think your neighbour just might have been getting rid of old carpet.

Fuzzywig · 15/11/2018 22:52

Go and knock...... ask him how his sister is lol

Bicyclethief · 15/11/2018 23:06

Oh have another look please.

OriginallyfromLA · 15/11/2018 23:50

No way am I looking! Far too scaredy cat for that. If it is a body then we'll soon know about it!

Old carpet - no. That would go to the tip. It's very unusual for him to have a full recycling bin though.....

Oh God, I'm going to have to look again aren't I?!?

OP posts:
Bicyclethief · 15/11/2018 23:52

Yes, have another look. We're all here behind you!

MVLipwig · 16/11/2018 00:01

Old carpet would go to the tip, and dead bodies would traditionally go in the river so I wouldn’t discount the carpet possibility as he’s clearly such a recycling Maverick. Maybe it’s an old cat tree..? They can be pretty bloody heavy clutching at straws

Hawkmoth · 16/11/2018 00:05

Look now.

BarbaraofSevillle · 16/11/2018 04:16

If it's full because he's had a clear out of magazines, yes it will weigh a tonne. Maybe he's gone from being a hoarder to a Marie Kondo devotee?

Our non recycling bin also weighs a tonne, but that's because we foster rescue kittens and the little buggers go through monumental amounts of kitty litter.

Bloodybridget · 16/11/2018 04:25

It would be pretty stupid to put a corpse in your own recycling bin. Agree most likely it's magazines, the entire back issue of Steam Trains Monthly.

DippyDiplodocus · 17/11/2018 10:08

So... did you look? Waits impatiently Grin

JudasPrudy · 17/11/2018 10:38

Is glass allowed in your recycling bin? Because some people 👀 can have a heavy bin because of quite a lot of wine bottles. Apparently Blush

EastMidsGPs · 17/11/2018 11:23

It could be a body wrapped in carpet😉

CigarsofthePharoahs · 17/11/2018 11:24

Is his name Ed Gein or Jeffrey Dahmer?
I would want to check, but I'm currently addicted to some true crime podcasts.
